Meet Harry Carver, chairman of the Franklin County Community Fund (FCCF), in this profile in FRANK. Magazine. Established in 2017 to support local charities, FCCF is a permanent endowment dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Frankfort/Franklin County. In this short time, the fund has already made a significant impact, raising nearly $40,000 during COVID to aid stretched local nonprofits. Why give to FCCF? A community endowment ensures perpetual resources to address evolving community needs. As the endowment grows, so does the impact! Help FCCF meet its goal of raising $60 million through legacy gifts. An endowment of that size would generate $3 million annually to fund the needs that will improve the quality of life in Frankfort and Franklin County now, and for generations to come. "A community is not successful without folks willing to give of their time (and money.) The fund has the capacity to be a driving force for good in our community, and it is gratifying to be a part of building it," says Harry. In our fundraising masterclass today for the Community Wealth Builder program for Doncaster Council we touched on 'mission drift'. 👀 Stay Focused, Stay True: Avoiding Mission Drift in the Pursuit of Funding Securing funding is crucial for the survival and growth of charities. But, it's essential to remain vigilant against the subtle yet widespread threat of 'mission drift'. As we navigate the complexities of fundraising, let's remember to stay true to our core values and mission. 🎯 🔵 What is Mission Drift? Mission drift occurs when an organisation starts to deviate from its primary goals and values, often in response to funding opportunities that do not align with its original mission. This can lead to a dilution of impact and a loss of identity. 🔵 How to Avoid Mission Drift ✅ Reaffirm Your Mission: Regularly revisit and reinforce your organisation’s mission statement to ensure all involved are aligned. ✅Strategic Funding: Seek funding sources that align with your mission. It's better to pass on opportunities that might lead you astray. ✅Clear Criteria: Establish clear criteria for evaluating potential funding opportunities. This will help in making informed decisions that support long-term goals. ✅Engage Stakeholders: Involve your board, staff, and community in discussions about funding and mission alignment. Diverse perspectives can provide valuable insights. ✅Transparency: Maintain transparency with donors and stakeholders about how funds are being used to further the mission. 💡 Remember: 🔵 Every funding opportunity is not created equal. 🔵 Prioritise sustainability over short-term gains. 🔵 Your mission is your compass; let it guide every decision. By staying committed to your mission, you ensure that every pound raised amplifies your impact and drives you closer to your vision. Fund your future without compromising your values. 🌍❤️ #charity #missiondrift #funding

Donor advised funds (DAF) have merit. They streamline the giving process and, when done as intended by the donor, steer money to desired charities, by name or category. A family foundation requires a little more effort from the donor. The family must first create their own non-profit, Then, the family makes contributions and has more flexibility on the charitable distributions. https://lnkd.in/e2ndez5Z #beneficiaries #budget #charity #communication #conversation #DAF #discussion #distribute #distribution #donation #donoradvisedfund #donors #explanation #familymeeting #Familyoffice #Familyoffices #foundation #giving #goal #governance #intentions #legacy #managementfees #MFO #missionstatement #multifamilyoffice #non-profit #philanthropy #preserve #reporting #sfo #Singlefamilyoffice #structure

If you specialise in 'circles' (creating, supporting, and delivering them) think carefully before attempting to transform into a 'square' or 'triangle' just to chase new funding opportunities. Diversification can be beneficial, but it must be a well-considered decision to avoid 'mission drift' and ensure you remain true to your core strengths and values 💪
