The recent impact of Hurricane Beryl has been profound, devastating communities across multiple Caribbean islands. During this challenging time, my thoughts are with all those affected by this natural disaster. It's crucial to stand in solidarity with the Caribbean region, recognizing the importance of collective support and committing to contributing to relief efforts. The priority is to assist in rebuilding lives and restoring communities. Here's how you can make a difference: - Financial Support: Consider donating to reputable organizations providing essential relief and aid. - Volunteer Opportunities: Explore ways to volunteer your skills and time to support recovery operations on the ground. - Raise Awareness: Share information about ongoing needs and encourage others to contribute to the recovery efforts. Together, we all can help accelerate recovery and demonstrate our collective resilience. Let's support the Caribbean communities as they rebuild and recover from this challenging situation. #CaribbeanStrong #HurricaneRelief #CommunitySupport #GlobalSolidarity

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, many organizations will be seeking donations to support response and recovery efforts. Sadly, this is also go-time for scammers. So what’s a well-intended donor to do? 🥁🥁🥁 Your research! Just like you wouldn’t buy a car without test-driving it first, look into causes that are asking for your money. Some reliable resources to aid in your vetting are Charity Navigator, CharityWatch, GuideStar and Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance. A little good, old-fashioned googling can’t hurt either. At the very least, any legitimate charity who is responding to Helene (or any disaster) would have information about it on their website and social media. Be a good Sherlock Holmes and vet, Vet, VET your causes. Bonus, insider two cents — as a former United Way employee, I know and trust in their disaster response funds. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by Hurricane Helene, especially our neighbors in Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina. The storm has left behind a trail of destruction and catastrophic flooding, and many communities continue to face immense challenges. This is a time for our community to unite and support those in need, and we are deeply inspired by the efforts already underway. In response, The Leon Levine Foundation is committing $5 million to aid both immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts. These funds will ensure that essential resources like food, water, and shelter are quickly provided to those who need them most. We have already distributed an initial $1 million grant to the COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA, INC (CFWNC) to support its Emergency and Disaster Response Fund, which is assisting relief efforts across 18 counties. Additionally, we have provided additive unrestricted support to all of our existing partners in Western NC to help address urgent financial needs. For more information on how you can contribute to recovery efforts, please visit the following links: Community Foundation of Western NC Emergency Disaster Response: https://lnkd.in/gkBi3hQf State/Regional Relief: https://lnkd.in/eiAnR-dX

WINGS CRS - HURRICANE JOHN EMERGENCY FEEDING MISSION On Friday, October 4th, utilizing $2700 in donations received last week, Wings CRS completed its first emergency food and hygiene products deliveries to 85 impoverished families living atop the mountains outside Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico. In the wake of Hurricane John—the second major hurricane to devastate the region within a year—these families had endured ten days without food. The mission provided essential relief to those most affected by the disaster. Our goal is to provide pantries of quality food to 1915 awaiting families in the same area who will not be receiving emergency food assistance from the government or any other aid agency as Wings CRS has been the only humanitarian aid for these communities since Hurricane Otis struck on October 23, 2023. $35 provides a pantry of quality food and hygiene products to 1 family. $105 provides for 3 families. 100% of your gift goes only to the needy families we serve. Contributions can be made via one of these 3 payment methods: Zelle to: savelives@wings-crs.org PayPal: savelives@wings-crs.org By debit or credit card: wings-crs.org/donate #hurricane #hurricanejohn #guerrero #guerreromexico #emergency #emergencyfeeding #hunger #starvation #humanitarian #humanitarianaid #humanitarianrelief #charity #WingsCRS #savemorelives #communityaction #thestormafterthestorm

Our hearts are with the communities in North Carolina devastated by Hurricane Helene. Entire neighborhoods have been wiped out, homes lost, and access to essentials like water, power, and communication severed. Earth Guardians' Global Programs Director, Kellie Berns, is on the ground working with local grassroots organizations deploying mutual aid, but more help is urgently needed. The most immediate needs are water, power, food, communication tools, and supplies such as generators and chainsaws. We’re calling on our community to donate funds to Earth Guardians, which will be distributed directly to local organizations, or to reach out to meg@earthguardians.org for in-kind donations. Every bit of help is appreciated as these communities work to recover. This is more than a local crisis; it’s a climate-driven disaster that requires a united response. Together, we can make a real difference. #HurricaneHelene #MutualAid #SupportNC #ClimateAction #EarthGuardians #RebuildTogether
