Have you heard of “ubuntu”? Shola Richards, the guest speaker at our annual Advocacy Stakeholder Summit describes ubuntu as “the height of human kindness, human compassion, and human connectiveness.”   Amgen is embracing ubuntu at this year’s Summit as we welcome more than 70 advocacy leaders to share insights and identify ways to better serve patients.   In a rapidly changing healthcare landscape, we all have a responsibility to keep human connectiveness at the center of all we do. With this in mind, we are prioritizing topics like 1️⃣ adopting a patient-first approach in the face of the increasing integration of AI and 2️⃣ creating meaningful and sustainable change in health equity.   We are grateful for our deep and trusted partnerships with advocacy leaders and can’t wait to make progress together on these challenging topics. 🤝

Addressing Health Disparities in Diabetes Care Genentech recognizes that the most significant impact on patient health comes from addressing the root causes of health disparities at the local level. Their ongoing collaboration with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) exemplifies this commitment as they work to eliminate barriers to eye care for individuals with diabetes. It is exciting to see this impactful initiative expand into the Washington, D.C. area, highlighting the dedication of Genentech, the ADA, and their community partners. Black and Hispanic/Latino communities face a higher risk of vision loss due to diabetes, the leading cause of preventable blindness. Through the collaboration with the ADA, the initiative aims to increase access to comprehensive and dilated eye exams at over 50 community locations, starting in Birmingham, Alabama, and now expanding to Washington, D.C. What an incredible week of impactful advocacy for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation! 🌟 I had the honor of being part of the "In Our Own Words: A CF Advocacy Day" virtual event, where over 30 passionate advocates with CF shared their powerful stories directly with key decision-makers in Washington DC. Together, we amplified our voices and spread our message far and wide, reaching US Congressmen, Senators, and Staffers with a clear call to action. Our mission was crystal clear: to rally support for vital legislation that could change lives. We passionately urged our representatives to back The Pasteur ACT (H.R. 2940 / S. 1355), a groundbreaking initiative poised to revolutionize the development of lifesaving antimicrobials. This legislation holds the key to unlocking hope for countless individuals battling CF and others combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) across the nation. But our advocacy didn't stop there! We also championed the HELP Copays ACT (H.R. 830 / S. 1375), a crucial measure designed to ensure that all patients, including those with CF, receive the financial protection they deserve. By advocating for this bill, we're standing up for the rights of every individual impacted by healthcare costs, ensuring that no one is left behind. Together, we made waves in Washington, DC, igniting change and paving the way for a brighter, healthier future. Our voices were heard, our stories resonated, and our advocacy will continue to drive progress.
