Yesterday, we published our Annual Report and Accounts which show continued progress and growth of our investment income year-on-year. As the introduction states, our central priority remains to invest in businesses and projects that support delivery of our missions and provide a commercial, risk-adjusted financial return. Ours is a long-term project and it's still early days but viewed alongside our annual impact report (https://lnkd.in/e7hJnfJj) and business plan, you can see the wider impact alongside the financial numbers: + Reaching an ever greater number of communities and local authority areas in Scotland + Developing the impact investing ecosystem in Scotland, growing partnerships and relationships across sectors + "Crowding in" over £1bn of additional investment alongside £640m of Bank capital committed since inception + 1850 jobs supported by our investee businesses + Carbon management and fair work commitments integrated across our portfolio The thing I'm most encouraged by after 3 years, which we brought to life in the case studies in our impact report, is how things are increasingly joining up across individual investments to drive aggregate impact across our missions: - Net Zero - the range of investment to support a just transition in the north-east, with investments in the offshore wind supply chain, innovation in renewables, and in people and services - Place - investment in anchor employers, housing and connectivity to reinvigorate local communities - Innovation - developing clusters around life sciences & medtech, and digital technology; capitalising on Scottish strengths that will be key in the future global economy This is where you'll continue to see progress as the Bank evolves and our portfolio builds across our 3 core missions, for the benefit of Scotland. As always, thanks to everyone working alongside us to help deliver our shared purpose. Scottish Financial Enterprise Impact Investing Institute Better Society Capital
Today we publish our third full year of accounts. A year of clear and demonstrable achievement and progress, with investment activity delivering against all three missions - the climate emergency; community inequalities; and the requirement to enhance productivity through greater commercial innovation. As the Washington state legislative session kicks off, one of TNC’s highest priorities is the continued implementation of the Climate Commitment Act. The funds generated by the CCA are already making an impact in Washington, but there is still more work to be done to ensure overburdened communities receive the resources necessary for increasing climate resilience locally. TNC’s director of government relations, David Mendoza noted, “From my own engagement with government agencies, they’re trying to do things differently. They know that they need to invest in overburdened communities. They know they want to reach smaller organizations to get in a pipeline to receive these funds that invest directly in communities.” https://nature.ly/3O14DIS

Thank you to everyone who shared feedback, submissions and insights with us during our public consultation in April and May. Over the eight weeks of consultation, we met with over a thousand people at more than 140 hui and events online and across the country – all the way from Northland to Southland. We've received hundreds of written submissions and have heard insights from Iwi/Māori, academics, businesses, industries, councils, climate advocacy groups, young people, communities, and many others. What happens next? • We'll now consider everything you've shared with us, and where appropriate we'll use it to re-evaluate our evidence base, approach and findings as we finalise these three pieces of advice to the government. • Our final advice is due to be provided to the Minister of Climate Change and published on our website by 31 December 2024. • The Government will consider our advice, including any recommendations, before making its decisions by the end of 2025. #ClimateChange #ClimateAction #EmissionsBudgets #EmissionsReduction #NetZero
