Earlier this year, EESI updated one of our most popular resources, the Climate Jobs Fact Sheet. In case you missed it, here are some key figures on the current state of the U.S. climate jobs landscape: 1. As of 2022, there were a total of more than 4.2 million climate jobs in the United States. 2. Clean energy jobs had a 3.9% growth rate, outpacing overall job creation. 3. Energy efficiency supported 2.2 million jobs in 2022. 4. Electric vehicle employment saw a massive increase of almost 27%. 5. Investments from the Inflation Reduction Act will generate an estimated 100,000 permanent clean energy jobs every year. Thank you, EarthShare, for the congrats! Proud to have been a member since your very beginnings. And congrats to our nonprofit birthday twin, The Surfrider Foundation, too! It takes many groups to advance environmental and climate solutions.
Happy 40th anniversary to two amazing EarthShare Nonprofit Partners who have been absolute rocks in the space for the past four decades. A massive congratulations to both The Surfrider Foundation and Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) for four decades of service, positive impact, and commitment to this beautiful planet we all share. Here's to another 40 years!

Extending a heartfelt THANK YOU to our amazing summer interns, Ainsley Ogletree, Gillian Murphy, and Lindsey Snyder! It's always hard to say goodbye to our interns at the end of the semester, but we cannot wait to see what you will accomplish in the future! We hope you enjoyed your summer at EESI as much as we enjoyed getting to know you.

#DidYouKnow that bipartisan public support for natural climate solutions is higher than ever before? Nature climate solutions (NCS) are strategies that draw down carbon and reduce greenhouse gas emissions while also promoting climate resilience. Earlier this summer, US Nature4Climate polled people across the nation to gauge support for the expansion of NCS. Swipe to see the main takeaways of the survey and view the full results online: https://lnkd.in/gwZMxmeX #NaturalClimateSolutions #Bipartisan #NaturePositive #Conservation

There are still a couple of weeks left in August: National Make-a-Will Month. It's time to make sure equitable climate solutions are part of your legacy! You may already have a will. Perhaps you have been planning to update it. When you include EESI in your will or name us as a beneficiary of your IRA or 401(k), you can make a positive difference in so many ways! Your legacy would include: 🌎 Providing opportunities for the next generation of climate leaders through EESI’s paid internships and scholarship program 🌎 Delivering affordable clean energy to households and small businesses in rural areas 🌎 Informing the climate debate on Capitol Hill by giving members of Congress and their staff science-based, nonpartisan educational resources Learn more about how to make an enduring impact with planned giving: https://lnkd.in/emSw7Dnd #ClimateCharity #Legacy #MakeAWillMonth #ClimateAction #BeTheChange

It's an exciting time for students returning to schools across the country, but especially at Catawba College, where new ground-source heat pumps will provide renewable heating and cooling for many buildings on campus. Thanks to the "direct pay" option created by the Inflation Reduction Act, Catawba can claim 30% of the installation costs in its 2025 tax return. Direct pay allows nonprofits and other tax-exempt entities to benefit from clean energy tax credits in the form of a direct payment from the IRS. Interns are at the heart of our mission and daily operations here at EESI! Not only do we love to support young professionals interested in the field of climate policy, but we rely on the diverse perspectives and hard work that our interns have to offer. Our summer 2024 cohort is wrapping up their semester, but Gillian Murphy decided to share her experience as a development intern before leaving. Check out her video to see a day in the life of an EESI intern. Bravo, Gillian! Applications for our spring 2025 internships will soon be open! Do you have a donor-advised fund (DAF) or charitable giving account? You can put it to work for urgently-needed climate change action with the #HalfMYDAF challenge! Please consider granting out half of the funds in your DAF by Friday, September 27, 2024 to increase EESI's chances of receiving a dollar-for-dollar match of up to $50,000. What are natural climate solutions and what is the federal government's role in optimizing their benefits? Detailed highlight notes are now available for EESI's recent briefing, "Maximizing the Impact of Natural Climate Solutions," which explored natural processes to reduce carbon emissions, sequester carbon, and bring new income and employment opportunities in rural America. Too long, didn't read? You can also save 🔖 and share ↪ these key takeaways: 🐦 Natural climate solutions sequester carbon and reduce greenhouse gas emissions while providing additional co-benefits for human well-being, ecosystem health, and biodiversity. 👩🌾 To best serve farmers and ranchers implementing these solutions, technical assistance is paramount. 🌲 Growing more resilient forests will help address the wildfire crisis, sequester carbon, and enhance biodiversity. 📜 Voluntary carbon markets are one tool designed to bolster natural climate solutions. The White House, Department of Energy, Department of Treasury, and Department of Agriculture released a joint statement of policy principles to support a high-integrity voluntary carbon market. Take a look at the briefing's full highlight notes and recording here: https://lnkd.in/gShex5eT #ICYMI #Webinar #NatureBased #Carbon #NaturePositive #Biodiversity
