2023 was a year of unexpected twists, turns... and fate! Over the past few years I have slowly been entering a niche of working with companies in the sales and marketing space, so when Andy Whyte, CEO at MEDDICC reached out, I was incredibly excited to jump at the opportunity to join as their Head of Engineering, tasked with pioneering their technical foundation. Truth is, building tech infrastructures from scratch is what I do. A decade of experience has proven it. There's a thrill in tackling new business challenges, mastering exciting tech, and assembling a team from the ground up. And... that's exactly what I've done at MEDDICC so far! Here's a quick round-up: 💻 Brought development in-house: We took control of our destiny, building a tech fortress within MEDDICC walls. 🚀 Assembled a stellar product development team: These rockstars are the engine behind mOS. ⬆ Levelled up to Head of Technology: My responsibilities morphed beyond engineering, embracing the broader tech landscape. 🚢 Shipped releases like clockwork: Our new team hit the ground running, delivering a whole lot of updates under pressure! 🔐 Aced security: We passed both a penetration test and ISO27001 certification, proving our commitment and dedication to all things security. and my personal favourite, crowned Chief Technology Officer 🎉 : This promotion recognises not just my tech expertise, but my leadership and vision for MEDDICC's future. I'm buzzing with excitement for what's to come. With my incredible team by my side, we'll continue building mOS into a powerhouse, delivering game-changing value to our customers. SciDev continues soaring in Q3! This morning, we announced our Q3 results, where we once again delivered record revenue and EBITDA. SciDev CEO Seán Halpin addressed performance for Q3 FY24, saying, "Our performance in this quarter demonstrates the continued momentum and high demand for SciDev technology as we strengthened our industry position, delivering a record quarterly revenue of $29.1m. Importantly, we continue to grow in a sustainable manner, recording a positive cashflow over the course of FY24 and delivering a year-to-date EBITDA of $6.8 million. I came up with a few technical tricks at my previous job. The software we used was slightly out-of-date, and we had to input multiple units per spreadsheet for each order. There was a lag when the units were input in the spreadsheet. However, my distinction was that the lag was not a computational lag, but rather a user-interface lag. The result of this distinction was the newfound ability to type sequential orders into the unit spreadsheets and process them quickly and immediately regardless of the visible user-interface delay. This was particularly comfortable for the quality-of-life of the engineers' duties. The other trick I came up with was a filter trick. Our head engineer had commended me for coming up with this observation because he never knew that multiple filters could navigate an order through multiple machines at the same time. He didn't realize that entire processes could be run in parallel throughout multiple machines with a single "run" command, not just in series pressing "run" by machine individually. Once he saw that I became accustomed to running processes in parallel, he would then wish to produce an entire engineering order in the push of a single "run" command by using the parallel production system that I'd introduced. His later ambition would be to fully automate the entire procedure, with the help of parallel production. Maybe that is specifically the reason that I am no longer needed at the company. His plans to automatically run the facility were very ambitious.
