The CDU is expected to win Germany's snap elections on February 23, likely forming a coalition with the SPD. However, differing economic policies between the CDU/CSU and SPD could lead to policy gridlock, making it difficult to address Germany's economic challenges. While immediate market impacts are expected to be limited, the potential for significant economic reform remains uncertain, with ongoing political and social tensions in the background. Key View • We expect the opposition Christian Democratic Union (CDU) to retake the Chancellorship in snap elections taking place on February 23. • The CDU holds a strong lead in polls, and we believe that the most likely partnership to achieve a majority in the Bundestag will be with the Social Democratic Party (SPD). • While political risks are likely to be muted, we believe that the new government will face difficult decisions and compromises in order to find solutions to kick-start feeble German economic growth. 📅 February 23, 2025, will be a defining moment for Germany’s future—and it also happens to be my son’s 7th birthday, making it a meaningful day on both a personal and national level. With recent state elections showing a noticeable lean toward the right, this upcoming vote has even more significance. The choices we make now will set the tone for Germany over the next four years, and it’s crucial we learn from the past to shape a forward-thinking, balanced future. To make well-informed decisions, we need to listen to all voices in Germany—individuals, communities, companies, and organizations alike—to truly understand their needs and concerns. This is how we’ll find the right answers and set a shared vision for Germany’s future, one that balances progress with unity. As we head toward February, let’s commit to understanding the issues, listening deeply, assessing the facts, and casting votes that reflect our best vision for Germany’s future. Together, we can make choices that resonate positively for the next generation and bring us closer to a Germany we’re all proud to be part of. #Germany #elections #23February2025

The most alarming chart I have made this year... Germany is facing elections, and the far right and populist left are dominating the political conversation on Facebook. AfD alone outperforms Scholz and Merz by nearly x20. The center is left behind and has a lot of catching up to do. There are many reasons behind the political success of these fringe parties, and part of it has to do with social media. They are simply better at engaging voters communicating in ways that people respond to. In an election, reaching voters on social media has to be an absolute priority of political strategy. The center should study the data, learn from the fringe parties, and beat them at their own game: - speak directly to voters' concerns - create content that is emotionally engaging - provide better solutions than the fringe parties. If you are concerned by this and want to dive into the data, get in touch.

As I keep reflecting on our recent elections, one thought keeps coming back over and over again. What if we held our elections in the warmer months? Imagine casting your vote under clear blue skies, with the energy of a bright summer day ... When elections take place in the fall, under grey skies and cold winds, the atmosphere can feel heavy and somber. But picture the warmth of summer—a season of openness, togetherness, and optimism. Warm weather not only lifts our spirits but can make participation in civic duties like voting feel more accessible and energizing. It’s not just about aesthetics. Research has shown that good weather and sunshine can positively influence our moods and make us more likely to engage in community activities. For our democratic process, this could mean more people turning out to vote, more positive interactions, and a stronger sense of unity on election day. Of course, organizing elections is complex, but to the extent possible, aligning them with the sunlit days of summer could bring new light and energy to our democratic journey. What do you think? Could the warmth of summer inspire a warmer, more engaged approach to our civic duty? #Elections #Democracy #CivicEngagement #WarmWeatherVoting

Just like in engineering, where we strive for optimal solutions, our electoral process can benefit from a fresh perspective. What if we could apply data-driven strategies to enhance voter engagement and streamline the election process? 📊 Let’s discuss: Would shorter elections lead to better candidates and more engaged citizens? Thumbs up or down? 👍👎 #Elections #Innovation #Democracy #Efficiency #Engagement #Leadership #DataDriven #Entrepreneurship #PoliticalReform #CivicEngagement Curious to hear your thoughts! Today we are starting our series on the German parliamentary elections, the Bundestagswahl. The election is being held on February 23, 2025, round seven months earlier than expected after the collapse of the coalition led by chancellor Scholz' SPD. As we did during the US Presidential Election 2024, we will aggregate polls and look at the changes, the demographics and what will make a difference in the election. Like always, this is about data analysis and no political commentary. We don't side with any party. You will find the link to the first episode, in English language, in the comments. The videos about the German elections in English and German language. #elections #germany #dataanalysis
