Last week's "Celebrating Her" panel discussion, hosted by Chicago Sky WNBA, was a powerful reminder of the transformative impact corporate sponsorships can have on women and girls in sport. As rising WNBA stars reignite passion for the game, we’re committed to channeling this momentum to advance gender equity on and off the court and to build stronger, more inclusive communities.

💡I was delighted to speak to the HBS teams about the invisibilisation of sportswomen throughout history, and its consequences: how to use women's sport today as a lever for professional equality. Sportswomen channel many of today's subjects about women rights: pay equity, fight for economic survival, menstrual health, mental health, injunctions about the body, essentialisation, male gaze, fight against sexist and sexual violence, cyber-violence, etc.
Have you ever heard of Marie Marvingt, Camille du Gast, Bessie Coleman, Bow Sim Mark, Alice Milliat, or Violette Morris? You might not have, but they were all part of women's sports history, and several HBS team members learned about them at yesterday's "Female Invisibility in Sports" workshop. Led by Ophélie Latil, founder of the Georgette Sand organisation and DAMES OISEAUX, the lecture educated us on the lack of documentation of women throughout sports history, and how we can fight the invisibilisation of women in our industry. Those who attended walked away with new knowledge on how to work towards a more equal future for women. As a continuation of HBS' global CSR commitments, we're hosting a workshop about Female Leadership next week, because International Women's Day is only one day, but gender equality should be uplifted year-round!

International Women’s Day 2024 – Friday 8th March 2024 The theme for this year is “InspireInclusion”. As the first female Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire I have been giving thought to International Women’s Day and this year’s theme - #inspireinclusion. We have some amazing role models to look to – locally, nationally and globally. More and more we can now see equality and inclusion is enabling women to showcase their skills. In the business world, schools and education, religious organisations, and health care, in the world of sport, leading charities and their teams of volunteers. In construction and the built environment and importantly encouraging more girls to choose STEM subjects at school. Women becoming more visible in these roles can only be a good thing to inspire the work-force, business leaders, volunteers of the future. There has never been a better time to be female! #inspireinclusion #iwd2024 https://lnkd.in/dGX7T8X

Unlocking Opportunity for Female Entrepreneurs Through Non-Traditional Financing -- by Stella Tai of Praxis Mutual Funds and Kersy Azocar of Greenline Access Capital The UN identified the need to invest in women in two of its Sustainable Development Goals. Goal 5 (gender equality) and Goal 8 (decent work and economic growth) both pay particular attention to creating opportunity for female entrepreneurs. There is immense opportunity for sustainable investors and capital providers to meet the needs of women business owners who are in need of financing to support and grow their businesses. -- https://lnkd.in/grCVUkyF

Today we celebrate International Women's Day. We have some incredible women in our business and think this year's campaign theme 'inspire inclusion' is a perfect call to action for accelerating gender parity. To commemorate International Women's Day we can: 1) Educate ourselves on what this day means whether it be reading a website / book or watching a documentary 2) Support women through donating to pro-women organisations or causes that resonate with us. Our contribution can make a significant impact. 3) Celebrate women in our lives – reaching out to the women who inspire us – friends, family, colleagues, mentors – and express our appreciation. A heartfelt message or a simple ‘Thank You’ can go a long way. 4) Challenge stereotypes, be mindful of gender stereotypes and actively challenge them. Encourage others to do the same. 5) 'Learn her story' through exploring the stories of women who shaped history. Read books, articles, or watch interviews about trailblazers, activists, and visionaries. Thank you to all the women in our business and to those outside it who inspire us, whoever they are.

Happy International Women's Day! I present to you two of my favourite people: my wife and daughter. I've been on KPMG UK's Network of Women committee for over ten years, supporting gender equity and encouraging women's leadership, to use my voice on their behalf. We only create lasting change when we all come together, value inclusion, and inspire others. These two are *my* inspiration. #IWD2024 #InspireInclusion

This International Women’s Day the Women & Girls team at AFL Victoria are supporting the 2024 theme of 'Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress' by highlighting exactly how we are investing and supporting women, girls and gender-diverse people in Victorian leagues and clubs in 2024. It's about more than the chance to play - we are investing on and off the field to create more opportunities for women, girls and gender-diverse people to progress as players, coaches, officials and leaders. https://lnkd.in/gXjtBT3R

"Investing in women's sports isn't an act of charity, it's a smart investment, as proven by the success of women's football lately. In many Asian countries, women and young girls are still struggling for their place in sports, adding to the challenges are absence of a solid structural foundation and investment to support their participation. It's time to shift our mindset: Women's sports in Asia deserve structured support to thrive, not as a handout, but as a pathway to progress." -Karishma Ali, 30 for 2030 member, Founder of Karishma Ali Foundation. Together, let's champion gender equality in sports at all levels 💪✨ Find out more: https://lnkd.in/d9e_hhpe #IDSDP #SportsForAll #GenerationEquality #Olympism365
