I do a lot of my thinking when I am walking the dogs in the New Forest or on the beach. Today's lightbulb moment was "Why don't we bring back refer a friend?" As 90% of our business has been built on word of mouth and previous marketing efforts have proved that this is still the best way, it makes utter sense to reinstate the initiative. SO if you successfully refer a friend who also works in luxury retail and is a decision maker we will reward this in the following way: * Leads to a planned maintenance contract £1000 cash * Leads to a project (refurbishment etc) £1000 cash * Leads to ad hoc reactive jobs over a 3 month period £500 cash So what are you waiting for? Get messaging your friends and ex colleagues! #referafriend #customerloyalty #referafriendscheme #referrals #wordofmouth #luxuryretail #luxurybrands #luxurystores #luxurymanagers #operationsmanagers #storedirectors

Lessons I Learned from Working 10+ Years in Retail ➡️ Analyze Your Comp Year When I was 19, I got a job at a store I really wanted to work at. It was 2009, and I applied to work at this store that was coming to a major mall in Winnipeg. The store hadn’t opened yet, and helping set it up was an invaluable experience for me. The brand flew in three people from Toronto stores to assist us. One of the biggest lessons I learned was in the backroom, where I helped put up a big yearly chart that tracked the current year’s and last year’s sales, along with spaces for daily target sales, conversion goals, transaction goals, and highest single transaction sales. As I set up backroom office supplies, including this calendar, my store manager casually explained how our parent company set up our yearly and quarterly sales targets. She would then take those targets and split them up over months based on regional trends, traffic, and her experience working in this specific Winnipeg mall. She explained that since we didn’t have a comp year, this year would be the real benchmark for our store. I was fascinated by the data. It reminded me of the scoreboards and stats from growing up playing basketball. Here were our store’s target stats and our work cut out for us for the next 12 months. This experience taught me the importance of analyzing sales data and setting realistic, data-driven targets. Understanding how to break down annual goals into manageable monthly targets was crucial for our store’s success and became a fundamental lesson in my retail career. #LessonsILearnedFromRetail #Retail #Prairies

6 weeks in – what I’ve learnt 6 weeks ago I left my busy Leeds Head Office job and set up JKC – my merchandise planning and consulting business. 6 weeks in here are a few things I’ve learnt. # The Linkedin community are a really encouraging and supportive bunch. I’ve had calls with strangers who have generously given me their valuable time to offer advice and encouragement # Most good ideas come when you are not at your desk. Getting out and about every day is not only good for your wellbeing but also for your business. # Many people don’t know what merchandise planning is – “not quite, that’s visual merchandising – more to do with planning and analysis”. # Explaining the relevance and benefits of retail merchandising to those who have never worked with a merchandiser is tricky. When you know you know! # Most people don’t reply to direct messages (I used to be one of those people). Thank you to those who have. # Don’t underestimate the power of your existing network. The people who have worked with you know your work and your worth. There have been a few “down” days and unproductive days but most have been full of new people, businesses and challenges and I’m loving it! If you are a product business and want to discover the benefits of retail merchandising in a flexible and affordable way, connect with me and we will take it from there.

Virtual Assistant, specializing in providing exceptional support to artists and entrepreneurs with my PEACH method • People Person • Creative being • Social media specialist
I wish sometimes people could see a little bit further when they read a CV with store manager experience. It’s NOT ONLY “store manager”, it’s way more then that. It should not be this difficult to find a job outside retail after spending all of this years multitasking and learning from basically every department, plus doing tasks that are not even in the description of a Store Manager position. I really feel a lot of job positions could benefit from the experience of a Store Manager. I’m still ready to take on new challenges outside the usual retail scene. #storemanager #opentowork #inbetweenjobs #newchallenge

You decide what you want. Meet the newest addition to the family, Deon Jansen, our Branch Manager at Builders Warehouse Katutura. From humble roots to finally managing to complete a part-time degree in Business Management, he has the grit and the tenacity our family is known for. Jansen says his first ten months in the position have taught him a lot but most important for him is time management. In his own words, “there are a variety of things which must be completed every day but, there are always unplanned things which pop up and if you don’t manage your time, your staff feel neglected and neglected staff leads to bad service which I do not allow.” And his plate is full from staff, HR duties, procurement, sales, and daily operations including merchandising, displays and other operational aspects. He does not have time to waste. But Jansen is a tough cookie. Raised by a single mom he got his first part-time job at 16 as a Shop Assistant to help his mom pay the bills. So, he understands the value of showing up and doing your best every single day. “I have this mindset of doing everything to the best of my ability. I have to always make a real difference and demonstrate my capabilities. This is also what I instill in my staff. We have a culture of service and pride in our store, our brand and ourselves. That way, we can give our clients the best.” His advice? “Work hard on yourself to gain as much knowledge as possible. No one can take that away from you. Study if you can and then create a map from what you know, and this will open doors for you.” Jansen says it is a simple thing: As a baby, you crawled before you could walk and then you walked before you could run. “Create a vision for yourself. Say, ‘I want this and then decide how you want to achieve it and get going’. It takes time but you must be consistent and stay focused.” #Staffintroduction #EmployeeExperience

It's challenging to be a retail tenant these days... Vacancy is at 7.9% across #northwestarkansas and it's much lower than that in the "prime retail" pockets - West Bentonville, West Rogers/Pinnacle, and North Fayetteville. If a business needs a drive-thru, there's going to be multiple offers to lease the same space and the owner will be juggling lots of different variables in evaluating which is the right deal. We recently helped a national restaurant tenant secure a drive-thru space when they were up against 5 other offers in Bentonville. If you or someone you know would like more information on the #NWAretailmarket, we would love to be a resource. #retailrealestate #tenantrepresentation
