Becker's Healthcare: Results are in from Wegovy's longest trial yet: 2 new findings. From a major trial published May 13: ...Researchers found the 10% average weight loss was sustained for up to 208 weeks, or four years, while people continued to take the medication.  ...Reduced risk of cardiovascular events, irrespective of weight loss were found. At ESC Congress 2024, late-breaking research revealed that mitral transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (M-TEER) significantly reduced cardiovascular deaths and heart failure (HF)-related hospitalizations in patients with moderate to severe functional mitral regurgitation (FMR). The RESHAPE-HF2 trial demonstrated M-TEER's superiority over optimal medical therapy alone, improving health status and reducing HF hospitalizations by 41%. With 505 participants, the M-TEER group had fewer HF-related hospitalizations and improved quality of life scores compared to the control group. No difference in all-cause mortality was observed, and M-TEER was associated with few periprocedural adverse events. #ESCCongress Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/g-cJNWjE
