Emirates is considering an order for Boeing Co. or Airbus SE freighters and may convert more passenger jets to expand its cargo fleet. The carrier, which aims to double freight capacity in the next decade, hasn’t decided between Boeing 777-8 freighters and Airbus 350Fs, and could take another four years to commit to either, Emirates’ cargo chief Nabil Sultan said. Turkish Cargo plans to expand freighter fleet in next 5-10 yrs Turkish Airlines has plans to expand its freighter fleet in the next five-10 years. At the ongoing TIACA Executive Summit hosted by Brussels Airport, Turkish Airlines Chief Cargo Officer Turhan Özen said the carrier is planning to expand its freighter fleet and so is also planning to expand its passenger aircraft. The carrier is hoping to expand its current overall fleet from around 429 currently to more than 800 in 10 years’ time. On freighters, Özen said over the next “five years plus” the freighter fleet would expand from its current 24 to 40 aircraft. Turkish Airlines has been working on an order for 400 narrowbodies and 200 wide-body aircraft. The airline had initially hoped to finalise that deal this summer, but completion has been complicated by challenges securing delivery slots at Airbus and Boeing and current engine supply issues, reports FlightGlobal. source cargotalkgcc.com

The recent incident on Alaska Airlines has led to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) ordering a one-time inspection of the emergency exits on all Boeing 737-8 Max aircraft in India. This proactive step was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers and aircraft operations, following the incident involving a Boeing 737-9 Max aircraft operated by Alaska Airlines. This directive affects the following airlines in India: Akasa Air: Operates 22 Boeing 737 Max aircraft, all being Max-8 planes. SpiceJet: Operates more than 10 Boeing 737 Max aircraft, including Max-8 planes. Air India Express: Operates 9 Boeing 737 Max aircraft, including Max-8 planes These airlines have been asked to carry out the inspections on their Boeing 737-8 Max planes and report any findings or concerns to the regulatory authority. TAAG Angola Airlines added one Boeing 737-800 freighter to its fleet, as well two 737-700s. TAAG formalized the order for nine leased Airbus A220-300, following an order of six A220-300s during the Farnborough International Airshow 2022. However, the chronicle illness of Pratt&Whitney GTF engine issues has also spread out to Angola. The first A220 was expected for August 2023, but now it is delayed to July 2024. The lack of availabilty of new aircraft on the market remains dynamic and TAAG is talking to about every source to have more aircraft and to replace older units. TAAG continues to clearly reconsider to have more A220s than those 15 aircraft. TAAG is also in negotiations to bring back three Boeing 777-200 into air. Maybe as a light cargo aircraft, a maximum of three wide body freigthers. Regarding the wide body fleet, TAAG want to take a decision before the end of the year, if the ordered 787s will replace some some of the older 777s. This will also depend on the fact, if TAAG will open new markets.
