Shared Services Partner | Skilled at Managing Change, Encouraging Open Communication and Delivering Top-Notch Service
This game is an outstanding testament to what brings people to games: a deep and meaningful story combined with real person communication and interaction. If you look at some of the most successful games over the past 3 to 4 years, the continued theme throughout them all is the ability to interact with our friends, strangers, partners, etc. in new and exciting ways (think of Fortnite being the most accessible battle royale and revolutionizing the genre, Among Us providing a new way to play with large groups of friends). In 2022, my wife and I played this game for the first time. We had been married for two years at that point, and had just gone through the hardest year of our marriage. While this game didn’t save it, it did help us learn how to communicate better with each other and work towards getting back to a better place in our relationship. What we find as we get older is that there is no cookie cutter model for communication. It’s not a “one size fits every relationship” sort of thing. Everyone communicates differently with everyone, and the best communicators are the ones that realize that sooner. This game, along with some of the most successful games of recent history, provides an opportunity for you to learn how to communicate more effectively with someone that you likely already have a relationship with. This is the perfect game for longtime friends, new partners, or anyone who just wants to get to know someone better. I cannot say enough good things about this game and I hope that studios make more like it. Do you have any niche examples of ways to communicate in your world? Sports, tech, hobbies… they all have such intricate worlds that not everyone gets insight into. Share them here so we can talk about them!
The incredible 2021 Game Of The Year, It Takes Two has now sold over 16 million units. That's 32 million players that have had a blast playing this game together as Cody and May! 🤯 A well deserved milestone for Hazelight Studios, a close partner and friend of Electronic Arts (EA) 🥂

🏈⚠️ Super Bowl Square Games: Fun, but Handle with Care! ⚠️🏈 Hey there, sports fans! As we gear up for the big game, it's time for a quick huddle on the legal playbook when it comes to Super Bowl square games in the office. 📜🏟️ We know how exciting it is to get in on the action with those gridiron grids, but let's talk about the legal game plan. While Super Bowl squares can add some extra excitement to the festivities, it's essential to recognize the potential liability that comes with them. 🚨💼 📝 First off, make sure everyone understands the rules of the game and the stakes involved. Clearly outline how the squares will be filled, how prizes will be distributed, and any entry fees or contributions required. 📄 Secondly, consider drafting a simple agreement or disclaimer to protect everyone involved. This can help clarify the terms and mitigate any misunderstandings or disputes down the line. 👀 Lastly, be mindful of state laws regarding gambling and gaming regulations. Depending on where you're located, there may be specific rules and restrictions to follow when organizing these types of games. By keeping these points in mind, we can ensure that Office Super Bowl square games are not only fun but also legally sound. Play it safe while you cheer on your favorite teams and enjoy the thrill of the game! 🎉🏈 Need help drafting a process or agreement? 🫖 Good afternoon to all of you who are still checking emails, maybe because your holidays are over – or because they are yet to begin – or because you are based in America or in China, where going on holidays doesn't stop you from responding to emails (we salute you!). Today we're happy to announce one of the 4 headliner panels of the conference: 🎙️ COMPLIANT ENGAGEMENT OF MINORS XC 2024 🎙️ This ever-green topic has been on the agenda for a number of years by now, as its relevance continued to increase: every major region is currently busy implementing a stricter form of protection of minors, both through the updated regulation and through its enforcement. Given how central the issue is to the revenue, and how high are the risks of non-compliance, we want to anticipate the changes – then work with our colleagues in dev and ops to implement proper protocols as early in the production pipeline as we can (for prevention is better than cure, every time). 🇮🇪 Anna Morgan (Bird & Bird) will lead and moderate this cross-country panel, looking at the key issues that games studios focus on right now, and at where the regulation is moving globally. Joining Anna is the stellar team of experts: 🇧🇪 Dr. Anselm Rodenhausen (Video Games Europe); 🇬🇧 Nic Murfett (Take-Two Interactive); 🇺🇸 Shanna Pearce (Epic Games); 🇸🇬 Timothy M. (k-ID); and 🇺🇸 Amy Lawrence (SuperAwesome). We aim to provide visibility into the regulation & anticipated changes, discuss the approaches taken by some of the global studios, review the currently available tools & systems, and finally look at the best practices of collaborating with dev/biz teams on becoming compliant by design. The session is scheduled to run just before lunch on September 5, and will last up to 75 minutes – including the time set aside for contributions from the floor. #gamesindustry #videogames #protectionofminors

Did you know? In gaming venues, management and staff: ✅ Can encourage customers to take a break in play by offering them food or drinks. 🚫 Cannot serve food or drinks to customers at the poker machine. ✅ Can allow customers to bring back their food or drinks to the poker machine. For patrons with mobility issues, staff can assist in carrying items ONLY after a break in play.

Being this small brings some interesting advantages: 1) Everything must be time efficient. Being able to blast out content is what an ARPG needs. Being this small forces this to front. 2) The blade that separates what is necessary from what can be shed is brutally sharp. We can still be indulgent at times but the player value has to be there or its toast. 3) We wear many hats, with each doing some jobs for the first time. Everyone is an expert at one thing and a complete newb at something else, turning the whole project into a thrill ride.
Gas Giant Games welcomes David G. in the role of Principal Programmer! With David on board, our development team is now complete. In case you haven't been counting, we're a team of six. While there were many other insanely talented people we wanted to hire, we are also excited to face the monumental challenge of building a full fledged ARPG at this size.

Listen, I'm no prude or pearl clutcher but this is such an important topic. 1) You have team members that don't drink for a number of reasons and making booze your only form of team bonding or celebration leaves them out or forces them into uncomfortable positions. The opposite of the assumed goal. 2) Gaming as an industry in particular has rampant sexual harassment and abuse. Involvement of alcohol does not help. This isn't fear mongering - I know of, have seen, or experienced several incidents. 3) You don't have to go totally dry 100% of the time to be safe and inclusive, but you do need to factor in safety measures. It wouldn't hurt to stop making booze the primary activity as well. If you need a selfish reason, the liability alone isn't worth it.
I had the opportunity to write a feature about drinking culture at games industry events on behalf of Safe In Our World for MCV/DEVELOP magazine. I'm so happy to be able to share this ahead of Develop:Brighton, and I hope it raises awareness about some important issues impacting our industry. The feature is available to read digitally here: https://lnkd.in/eeiXgtXX
