This type of Safety talk with a no taboo discussion on how dangerous it can be to work inside a desal facility that is not given the proper care and attention was long overdue! Thanks to everyone involved for bringing forward an important topic for the #waterindustry! Major sources of dangers DO exist in a desal plant even if I am a big fan of SWRO plants for the multiple benefits they bring to society. HIGH PRESSURE, CORROSION, HIGH VELOCITY, QUASI PERMANENT OPERATIONS, CHEMICALS: real recipe for disasters if not taken seriously. A SWRO plant is an environment that requires professional knowledge and careful behaviors at all steps of Design, Construction and Operation. When properly designed and operated, there are no reasons to be worried about safety inside a Desal plant; so let's make sure we do things the right way! 👍 Good Job Doug Eisberg for leading the way! Super proud of you Leo Tua-Parra for representing Piedmont Pacific International Desalination Association and American Membrane Technology Association (AMTA) are two great institutions who teach the professional community about these key topics!
I would like to thank my panelists and the attendees for participating in the AMTA / AWWA Panel at the 2024 Membrane Technology Conference entitled: ADDRESSING GLOBAL MEMBRANE SYSTEM SAFETY AND RELIABILITY My panelists included: Jack Thornburgh - Tampa Bay Water Peter Darby - Founder of Advanced Structures / CodeLine Atul Kakkar - General Manager CodeLine Leo Tua Parra - Piedmont Pacific John Dietrich - Dietrich Consulting Group Sean Maccagh - RO-TEG Olivier Bedague - Protec Arisawa Jim Harn - Founder of Harn RO The panelist discussion was lively and we covered a lot of good questions during the audience participation. As we discussed, getting the industry to focus of this important topic might be a challenge, but with all the recent vessel and coupling failures, every end user, consultant and system supplier should take notice. As announced at MTC, the the AMTA G-002-2024 GUIDELINE FOR MEMBRANE SYSTEM SAFETY AND RELIABILITY will be distributed for key stake holder comments at the end of this month. The AMTA Guideline Committee was been working hard on this important document that should benefit our global industry. Thanks again to everyone.

Very excited that our Senior Manager Mobility & Life Cycle Assessment, Benedetta Nucci, will be speaking at the International Automotive Recycling Congress in Antwerp on 20 June! 🗣 We want to take this opportunity to emphasise the need for the revision of the #ELV (End-of-life of Vehicles) Directive to prioritise material availability and reuse, advocating for measures such as improved vehicle design, enhanced dismantling practices, and the inclusion of minimum requirements for #aluminium scrap classification. Measures such as expanding the scope of circularity passports should be introduced and the implementation of fact-based measures for post-consumer recycled content to drive sustainable practices in the #automotive industry. 🚗 Read more about our priorities for the ELV Directive revision ➡ https://lnkd.in/dqwkaqXf Register to the Congress and find out more ➡https://lnkd.in/dcavd4ts #IARC #mobility #recycling
🌟 Excited to announce my upcoming presentation at the next International Automotive Recycling Congress in Antwerp! 🌍✨ My presentation will focus on the recycling of aluminium (of course 🙂) from end-of-life cars and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to connect with experts from across Europe to exchange insights and delve into the latest developments in automotive recycling. Huge thanks to the organizers for orchestrating this great event, and I can't wait to engage in fruitful discussions and forge new connections! See you at IARC 2024!

STANDARDS COMPLIANCE The National Electrical Switchboard Manufacturers Association, NESMA of Australia 🇦🇺 does yeoman services for the safety, compliance & upkeep of electrical switchboard installations in their Country. They also promote Exhibitions & Seminars such as this one held in Sydney on 21-11-2022. 🎪 Modutec Ready Panels Pvt Ltd along with their Australian Distributor Hi Switch - Custom Build Switchboard Fabrication & Modutec - Modular Switchboard Distributors NSW were Gold Sponsors of this event & my exposure to the ANZ compliance driven electrical switchboard industry was awe-inspiring ✊🏼🫡👍🏼 What was a moment of unbridled pride & immense gratitude for me, unfolded in the attached video at 8.50 mins when the President of NESMA, Scott Emerson Emerson, acknowledged the sponsors of the event 🏅🙏🫶🏽 Please listen to the two illustrious talks given on this occasion: 1. *The Standards and us* by Max Carstedt NATA Laboratory Technical Assessor; also an International ASTA Observer. 📒📝🛟 2. *Building compliance awareness* by Mark Hensen, Service compliance & Field Manager from Ausgrid the largest electricity distributor in the east coast of Australia. 👷⛑️👷♀️ It’s all here for you to hear, internalise & be aware of. And for your highlighted information, the 61439 standard has been made MANDATORY in Australia since May 2021. 🧑⚖️👩⚖️ https://lnkd.in/gFTJX6iT What triggered this line of thought for me was this excellent article in LinkedIn by Mr Brennan Jenvey, Director of Border Switchboard Sheetmetal & Powdercoating who is a NESMA member. 📝 https://lnkd.in/gm5RTCCj It’s a must read by all of us in the Electrical Switchboard Industry in India 🇮🇳 and all our COSMA . (Control Panel & Switchgear Manufacturers’ Association) members. 📖😇📑 We all need to be aggressively working towards a FASTER, SMARTER, SAFER, GREENER & COMPLIANT Electrical Switchboard Industry. For this we must adopt the route of being STANDARDISED, SYSTEMATISED & SOFTWARE supported 🙋🏻⁉️📈 #NESMA #COSMA #Seminar-Exhhibition #HI-SWITCH #MODUTEC #IEC-Standards #Compliance

Our article is now available in early access (https://lnkd.in/edWbFwdP). It was a challenging problem to work on, but it was also a lot of fun. It took almost two years to get it published, but the process was worth it as we made significant improvements. I think we all need to be prepared to see more and more aerial vehicles delivering packages and goods in our daily lives, and I'm sure no one wants to see crashes due to poor communication quality in a world where ultra-reliable communication networks are being tested. Our research addresses this problem by introducing a systematic approach that ensures high delivery performance while maintaining a certain level of communication performance. In particular, we have introduced a new variant to the drone delivery problem that considers a new set of communication constraints. Most aerial routing problems have focused on routing, but we have shown that neglecting communication performance could result in poor overall delivery performance. We have developed a new mixed-integer programming model that guarantees certain handover and outage qualities in a multi-depot multi-trip green routing problem setup. To solve this problem efficiently, we have developed a genetic algorithm that outperformed both an off-the-shelf solver and another evolutionary algorithm. We have also presented significant insights based on different configurations of the problem. I'd like to once again thank Hakan Gultekin, Çağrı Koç, and Güneş Erdoğan for all their effort and time. That was an honor to work with you 😊
So happy to receive the email from the IEEE-ITS that our joint work with Çağrı Koç, Hakan Gultekin, and Güneş Erdoğan has been accepted 🎉

Great panel discussion yesterday with Jouni Ahopelto, Clivia Sotomayor Torres, Dirk Bruggeman, Babak Heidari, Irene Fernandez-Cuesta, Babak Heidari, Lou Gang, Patrik Lundström- chaired by Gabi Grützner and me - concluding that NIL is now used in many applications in the consumer market - although that is not well understood by consumers- while still further R&D is needed to eg. secure implementation of standards and procedures in order to explore the full potential for NIL for being a driving force for further industrialization through NILs excellent repeatability for micro- and nano structuring enabling superior functional performance while reducing carbon footprint bringing considerable impact towards a sustainable future - for people, planet and prosperity.
Yesterday at the NNT / NIL Industrial Day in Lund: Many thanks to the NIL pioneers for the interesting discussion during the round table. https://lnkd.in/grvKzJiB
