At AllSeater, we recently conducted a survey to better understand the pain points businesses face when dealing with season tickets. One surprising complaint that emerged was the frustration of "wrong person got the right seat." It's a scenario where an intern, often with more available time, snags the most sought-after tickets first, leaving high-performing employees feeling overlooked and undervalued. Instead of being a perk, poorly managed season tickets can breed resentment among your team members, undermining morale and team cohesion. We are here to fix that.

Team Tuesday & Employee Spotlight! Today's McClay's spotlight is with Juan L. Azbate who works for our McClay's Transportation asset division as a dispatcher. Juan does great work with communicating, and collaborating with our drivers and customers each day to make sure our shipments run smoothly and accurately. Juan also takes care of scheduling our drivers each week to ensure everything is properly planned and to create efficiencies with route planning. Q: How Long have you worked at McClay's Transportation: A: 5 glorious years. I have grown a lot in this role as a dedicated dispatcher over the past years, and I look forward to working with the team moving forward and continuing to grow in the role. Q: What do you enjoy most about working at McClay's: A: I enjoy the friendliness of our team, customers, and the easy going culture that it brings with it. Q: What are some of your interests outside of work: A: In my downtime away from the office/yard, I enjoy Chess, Video Games, Soccer/Football and family time! Q: What's your go to food, snack, cuisine...: A: Any food is my favourite food. Make no mistake I like food. My motto is, I will try anything once. Q: What is something interesting that people might not know about you: A: I came to Canada as a refugee with one bag of clothes and a box of my most precious CD's. How do you measure the performance of your volunteers and staff? Have you been surprised when investigating an overperformer, only to find out they fudged their numbers? Maybe they were just a bad actor, but also maybe your goals were too aggressive, your incentives were too connected to that goal, and your treatment of those who failed to hit their goals was too strict. Here's a few things you can do to improve your doors numbers without requiring minimum doors: 1. Hold skill-building workshops: Take a day off of door-knocking to train your folks. This will make your staff more efficient and effective, while improving their long-term viability as a staffer in the industry, and their loyalty to your campaign. 2. Allow for flexible scheduling: Sure, there is a prime-time for door knocking, and there's no changing the date for your super-saturday, but everything else is up in the air. But simple changing from asking staff to sign up for their shifts rather than assigning shifts to them can make a big difference. 3. Foster mentorship and peer-to-peer training: We all know that buy-in the a big deal. If your staff are here just for the pay check, you're going to have a bad time. Intra-team mentorship and training is a great way to build team cohesion, while allowing staffers who excel to help those who are falling behind. 4. Group strategizing and retrospective: Regularly hold meetings to discuss what strategies have worked for team members and what didn’t, encouraging a culture of learning and adaptation.
