Documenting this moment - today I got to touch the very first donation for the new Heritage Centre in Hyndburn. Beautiful teeny tiny children’s clogs, owned by Ethel - who was born almost 100 years ago in Accrington. These will help community stories come to life, whilst we imagine a walk through Accrington Town Square in Ethel’s shoes! #Heritage #AccringtonTownSquare

The Bay Bridge light show that went dark in March could return by the fall, organizers said, as they get closer to raising the money needed to restore the iconic light art installation. Illuminate, the nonprofit that installed and operated The Bay Lights for 10 years, has raised almost 90% of its $11 million fundraising goal, founder Ben Davis told The Standard on Thursday. The nonprofit plans to double the LED count to 50,000, making it visible to more of the Bay Area, including the Bayview neighborhood, Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island. 📲 Read the full article by The San Francisco Standard at https://lnkd.in/gZHp9J8Z Shalini Sadda / Luxury Property Specialist / Dre#: 02004797 #sanfrancisco #sf #bayarea #realestate #cityrealestate #luxuryhomes #luxury #dreamhome #sanfranciscorealestate #news #sfrealestate #realestatemarket #lovewhereyoulive #baybridge #baybridgelights #baybridgelightshow #illuminatesf

📈 New Report Highlights Key Trends in U.S. Charitable Giving 📈 I recently came across "Dollars and Change," a comprehensive report by Candid, GivingTuesday, and Network for Good, examining U.S. charitable giving trends from 2015 to 2022. The findings provide critical insights into the evolving landscape of philanthropy. Key Highlights: + Significant Growth in Giving: Individual donations have increased by 58%, with average contributions rising from $442 to $611. Institutional grants also saw a 74% increase, with the average grant size nearly doubling. + Concentration of Donations: A small segment of large donors contributes a significant portion of total giving—0.3% of donors are responsible for 45% of all donations. + Economic Influence: Giving patterns closely align with economic conditions, underlining the sector's sensitivity to broader economic trends. + The report underscores the potential of cross-organizational data collaboration to enhance visibility into funding patterns and drive more strategic decision-making in the nonprofit sector. This report is a valuable resource for those interested in the latest trends and insights in philanthropy. 🔗 Read the Chronicle of Philanthropy's summary here. https://lnkd.in/dMiuspFN and access the complete report here https://lnkd.in/dR5sX562. #Philanthropy #NonprofitSector #CharitableGiving #DollarsAndChange #BusinessInsights #DataAnalysis

Affordable housing is something that this Council started to look at a number of years ago. Post COVID19 Maldon has become a popular place to live but the cost of housing has sky rocketed. House prices have trippled and rents doubled. This makes it difficult for people who have always lived and worked here to buy or rent a house. Gentrification forces out the people who have always lived here. As a Council we have being doing what we can to address this. Some initiatives include: - Changing by laws to make it easier to have secound dwelling on existing lots; - Rating AirBnb as commercial properties; - Allocating land for social housing in Maldon, Newstead and Castlemaine; -Changes to planning approvals to streamline but ensure community is heard; - Appointment of a housing officer to identify reforms and work with stakeholders; Last week we approved the creation of a housing trust and allocated $500,000 to start it. We can't resolve the affordability of housing but as a Council we are doing what we can.
We’re progressing plans to make affordable housing possible for more people in our shire by establishing an affordable housing trust. The trust is an independent charitable organisation, which will hold land and funds for the development of affordable housing locally. We’re excited by the trust and its possibilities, but understand it’s complex, so we’ve created a space online where you can ask questions and get them answered by Council’s Housing Solutions Broker. Visit https://lnkd.in/gmnDPTb2... and find out more about the trust, and ask us a question. We’ll also be holding face-to-face information sessions about the Mount Alexander Affordable Housing Trust in the coming weeks too. Keep an eye out for more information about those!

Florida’s Wealth Boom Yields a Windfall for the State’s Charities, as reported by Amanda Gordon for Bloomberg Arrival of Citadel's Ken Griffin augurs new donor class for #Florida. A younger establishment sets the course for a range of causes, from supporting homeless women and children at LOTUS HOUSE WOMEN'S SHELTER in Miami; to raising donor commitments ten fold for the new Cox Science Center and Aquarium in West Palm Beach; to increasing #educational equity with financial support for Achieve Miami; and providing a #financial jolt to the The Miami Foundation. Ken Griffin is no stranger to giving out big gifts in the big cities where he lives and does business. In #Chicago, the financial magnate donated $125 million in 2019 to help modernize the Museum of Science and Industry. In New York, he threw in $40 million for a new wing at the Museum of Natural History. Now the billionaire founder of the Citadel financial empire is using his fortune to make a mark in Florida, where he moved from Chicago in 2022. His gifts are the highest-profile example of how recently transplanted financial professionals are forging a new era of philanthropy across the Sunshine State. From #Tampa to Miami and #Sarasota to #BocaRaton, affluent young people and families rooted in Wall Street careers have helped drive a boom in giving. The Miami Foundation’s recent ‘Give Miami Day,’ an annual single-day #fundraising sprint for local charities, offers more evidence of how a new donor class is stepping up. The online campaign raised $34 million this year, more than double the $14 million it brought in 2019. The number of donors giving $100,000 or more surged to 36 from eight in 2020. “I joke that if you wanted to be a founding father in #NewYork, you’d need a time machine and possibly another zero or two at the end of your net worth,” said Rebecca Fishman Lipsey, the Miami Foundation’s chief executive officer. “But if you want to be a founder in #Miami you just need to pull up a chair, because it’s happening right now.” Felipe Marques Anna Kaiser Natalie Wong Schwartz Media Strategies

Prosperity Beyond Profits: How Florida's Economic Surge Fuels a Philanthropic Renaissance 🚀🌆 Economic Development: The Engine Driving Indirect Prosperity Florida's latest philanthropic boom showcases a profound truth: Economic development is more than just business growth and job creation; it’s a catalyst for widespread community prosperity. 💼🌴 The arrival of financial heavyweights like Citadel's Ken Griffin in Florida is a testament to this. Their relocation has sparked a significant increase in charitable giving, benefiting a spectrum of causes. From enhancing educational equity with Achieve Miami to providing financial support to the Miami Foundation, these contributions are reshaping the Sunshine State’s philanthropic landscape. 🔬🐠 In West Palm Beach, the Cox Science Center and Aquarium's fundraising efforts have seen a tenfold increase, while Miami's LOTUS HOUSE WOMEN'S SHELTER has gained crucial support for homeless women and children. 🎨💰 Griffin's philanthropy isn't new. His past contributions, like the $125 million to Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry and $40 million to New York's Museum of Natural History, have left lasting impacts. Now, in Florida, his and other Wall Street professionals' generosity is forging a new era of giving. 📈🤝 The Miami Foundation's ‘Give Miami Day’ recently highlighted this trend. Raising $34 million in a single day, the event saw a surge in substantial donations, reflecting the growing commitment of Florida’s new donor class. 💡🏛️ This wave of philanthropy in Florida is more than just generosity; it’s a blueprint showing how economic development can indirectly fuel social and cultural enrichment. It demonstrates that when we attract businesses and investors, we're not just boosting our economy – we're laying the groundwork for broader societal contributions. As Economic Development professionals, let’s recognize and nurture this potential. By attracting and supporting businesses, we’re indirectly setting the stage for a more vibrant, equitable, and prosperous community. #EconomicDevelopment #Philanthropy #Florida #CommunityGrowth #SocietalImpact #BusinessGrowth
