Mercy Health -- Lorain and Youngstown (Youngstown & Lorain, Ohio) Chief Clinical Officer James Kravec, MD, FACP recently discussed physician leadership during Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED)'s VITALS | Visionary Health Leadership in Action. Every month, NEOMED gives health care thought leaders 17 minutes — the average duration of a physician-patient visit — to engage medical professionals and students on any of the VITALS topics: Value-based, Innovation, Technology, Advocacy, Leadership, Service. As the Mercy Health Lorain and Youngstown chief clinical officer, Dr. Kravec is responsible for providing physician executive leadership for the Lorain and Youngstown clinical enterprises, which includes the over 1,500 physicians and advanced practice clinicians of the five hospital medical staffs, two employed medical groups and the market’s clinically integrated network and accountable care organization. He is also the system medical director for Graduate Medical Education for Bon Secours Mercy Health, where he leads operations, strategy and growth for the physician residency programs through the system. This currently includes seven markets, over five states, 40 resident and fellowship programs, and 600 physician learners. Dr. Kravec is an alumnus of NEOMED.
