Pooja Umashankar, aims to address the global shortage of engineers in the aviation industry, with industry estimates suggesting a need of approximately 700,000 engineers by 2040. Umashankar, an aviation maintenance engineering student at the University of South Wales, aspires to promote safe air travel for the rapidly expanding aviation industry. However, securing an on-the-job training placement has proven to be challenging. The current shortage of female engineers, representing less than 10% in the UK and 2.8% in the US, could potentially be addressed by encouraging more individuals like Umashankar into the trade. Moreover, the push for more apprenticeships and internships could help combat this pressing need for more engineers in the industry. The ongoing retirement of ageing engineers only underscores the urgency of this issue. #aviation #womeninengineering #futureofaviation

Aviation jobs in India are set to take off, but the sector is staring at a skills shortage, Debleena Majumdar reports for The Economic Times. Expansion across the aviation sector is estimated to create close to 73,000 jobs by 2035, says Dhriti Prasanna Mahanta, Vice President at TeamLease Degree Apprenticeship. The most in-demand roles will be for pilots, avionic technicians, safety and compliance managers, engineers, aircraft mechanic service technicians, and quality managers, among others. Of these, pilots and aircraft maintenance engineers will see the most growth in demand. However, the skills gap stands at 17% currently and is slated to rise to 25% by the end of FY25, Mahanta says. The gap is stark across both technical and non-technical job functions, with crucial roles set to be impacted. What can be done to meet these challenges? Establishing training programmes that combine technical proficiency with soft skills, and providing more degree apprenticeships are essential, Mahanta adds. India is slated to overtake China and the United States in air passenger traffic by 2030, according to the International Air Transport Association. The scarcity of Aircraft Engineers is more than a temporary setback, it's a crisis decades in the making. As seasoned engineers retire in droves, the influx of fresh talent isn't keeping pace. Are we on the cusp of a future where advanced machines lack the hands needed for their upkeep? With technology evolving at breakneck speed, the real question emerges: Are we doing enough to prepare the next generation, ensuring the skies remain safe? The future of aviation hangs in the balance - will we rise to the challenge, or are we setting the stage for a talent void in the face of unparalleled technological advancements. #aircraftengineering #aviationindustry #aviationsafety #aviationcareers #aviationjobs #internship #aviationtraining #aviationinnovation #mroservices #airlines #airlineindustry

Initially, I didn't think I would repost this article on the challenges of the aviation maintenance by Sajjad H. However, seeing the amount of comments and some relevant points and counterpoints the original post has evoked in the comment section, I felt the post requires a wider circulation to evoke even more constructive discussion (hopefully). It will be interesting to see how it goes. Inviting other aviation professionals to comment please. #aviation #aviationmaintenance #training #aircraftengineering #aviationindustry #aviationsafety #aviationcareers #aviationjobs #internship #aviationtraining #aviationinnovation #mroservices #airlines #airlineindustry #civilaviation #commercialaviation

Dreams do come true! As a cadet I was below average in studies. Infact in 1st Semester I got a backlog and in 2nd Semester again a backlog with (back to back) backlogs. It was humiliating for me and for my confidence. At that time I thought my career is finished before it even started. But every story has a comeback. Life gives you a chance to build your own character according to your life story. And believe me it takes a lot of hard work, failure and never give up mindset to beat all the obstacles and overcome through all of it. And that's what I did. I got campus placement in my first attempt even after getting (back to back) backlogs. I claered my MEO Class IV exams just in 4 months. I did it because I had given everything whatever it takes to reach at this stage of my life. Today I know only one thing; "You can write your own story if you have Will & Determination with a lot of Endurance embraced in it." So never ever think of giving up. Keep working hard and rock it. I said earlier and I'll say it again.. "Dreams do come true if you have Never Give up mindset." With this I feel a lot of relief and satisfaction. I'm going to start a new chapter of my life ; Working as a 4th Engineer onboard at Fleet Management Limited . I'm ready to apply my Skills and Dedication to excel in this new role and contribute to the success of our Organisation and Maritime Industry. #Achievementunlocked #CareerProgression #MarineEngineering #MaritimeIndustry #FleetManagementLTD
