🌟 Big news about the world's smallest accelerometers 🌟 We are thrilled to introduce the groundbreaking BMA530 and BMA580 accelerometers, setting a new standard in compact design and unleashing immense potential in #wearables and #hearables. Compared to the current generation of Bosch accelerometers, the BMA530 and BMA580 have a 76% smaller footprint and a reduced height from 0.95 mm to 0.55 mm. 🤏 While the BMA580 provides innovative voice activity detection and an advanced feature set for hearable devices, the BMA530 is ideally suited for wearables, as well as gesture recognition in toys, fall detection in laptops and other devices. In a recent column published by Mobil.se, it was highlighted that as more sensors and functions are integrated into wearables, the storage requirements increase, which in turn changes the form factor of the devices, making them less desirable for people to wear. This is one of the reasons why we are developing "Companions". Our Deep Augment™ system is powered by MIRS™, which is embedded in a module that can fit into any wearable (measuring 20x6x1 mm). MEMS Accelerometers for Wearables/Hearables Set New Compactness Benchmark With a 1.2mm x 0.8mm x 0.55mm form factor, Bosch Sensortec GmbH claims that its new BMA530 and BMA580 WLCSP packaged devices are the smallest MEMS accelerometers currently on the market. Debuting at CES in Las Vegas (Booth #17207), they are intended for use in hearables, smartwatches, fitness trackers, etc. Voice activity detection is picked up by the BMA580 via use of bone conduction to detect vocal vibrations. This approach means that substantial power savings can be realised, thus prolonging battery lifespan. Complementing this, the BMA530 can be employed to support gesture recognition, so that touch-based human machine interfaces do not need to be relied upon (thereby saving space within designs).
