NEXT GEN FORUM // At FKG, we firmly believe that nurturing our people’s growth is pivotal to our success. That’s why our construction team recently brought together cadets, apprentices, and trainees from across the country to meet in our Windsor office for a forum.   This year’s forum focused on essential skills like Communicating for Results, Building Resilience and Managing Stress, Business Planning, and even Budgeting and Financial Management. Participants delved into various competencies, such as active listening, trust-building, effective leadership through conversations, stress identification, loan management, budgeting, and much more!   Not only did the group hear from FKG’s Managing Director, Group Manager of Construction, Leadership and Training Manager, Construction Finance Manager, and Operations Managers, they also engaged in a panel discussion, firing away questions to some of FKG’s best.   To cap off this learning experience, participants had the chance to put their #leadership and #teamwork skills to the test in a MasterChef-style cook-off. In teams, they prepared a dish that would later be shared during dinner. I just thought to drop this here; I earned it from Nexford University in November 2023. About 3 years ago, when I looked at the trends in the IT and business worlds, it was obvious that in the next few years, it would be very difficult to remain relevant with the current skills and knowledge I possess if I did not continually upgrade my skills. Then, I told myself that I would constantly upskill myself; hence, no quarter (3 months) passes without me upskilling or earning a feather. I went through a 7-month certificate course on Advanced Business Foundations. These courses are designed for those without an undergraduate degree in a business-related field, preparing them for the MBA program. These courses provide essential business concepts and bridge the gap between a graduate degree and their current level of knowledge. If you are an IT professional or engineer, or you studied any non-business-related course either at a university or polytechnic and wish to go for an MBA at a US university, I would recommend you go for this program.
