Tomorrow is World Sickle Cell Day! As we share facts about sickle cell disease (SCD), we’re also highlighting important research that’s led to two approved gene therapies for SCD. One of them, Casgevy, has deep scientific roots at Boston Children’s, with research being led by our doctors over decades. It works by increasing production of the fetal form of hemoglobin and reducing production of the adult form hemoglobin.
