As Senior Systems Engineer at United Musculoskeletal Partners, you'll be on a team building a national technology platform to support orthopedics groups across the country. This encompasses everything from architecture and design to implementation and ongoing maintenance and support of infrastructure systems and associated technologies including operating systems, storage, virtualization, networks and security in both on premise and cloud hosted environments. This includes performance of routine tasks including daily systems administration and backups as well as break/fix support across all of these areas. With minimal supervision, leads the implementation of enhancements, updates, upgrades and patches to ensure equipment is preventively maintained, running properly and protected from security threats. Ensures users are kept informed of changes on a timely basis. Develops and executes test plans to ensure updates are fully tested before going live. Performs spot checks in key areas/scenarios to ensure systems are up-to date as well as to minimize risk to ongoing operations.Monitors and reports on processes, uptime, performance, utilization and capacity of systems and technologies. Collects and analyzes key performance metrics in order to recommend improvements in those systems and technologies or their associated process.Executes and monitors equipment backups to ensure data and applications are safeguarded and can be restored to establish normal operation after an incident or disaster.Troubleshoots complex issues within and outside of the SME's domain. Provides or obtains their timely resolution. Analyzes failures, identifies root cause and implements and documents short and long-term corrective actions. Monitors infrastructure related licensing and maintenance and support contracts, including coordinating support from 3rd party service providers.Writes and maintains technical documentation related to networking and infrastructure and updates as appropriate. In areas of expertise, provides training and direction to other IT staff so that they may effectively perform their daily activities related to IT infrastructure.Adheres to company polices, regulations and industry standards on compliance, information security and confidentiality. This talent is hard to find and cultivate. Our consultants are deep technical experts, possess strong customer facing skills, and can run a project end-to-end. It's a tall order. The right attitude: Willing to run fast, take ownership, live in ambiguity, and looking for personal career growth. You can make way more money at the Big 4 but you'll be bogged down in red tape. Tradeoffs. I like folks who bring scissors to red tape and sledge hammers to brick walls. Can't stop, won't stop. The right time in life: This is might be the most difficult piece. At some point in everyone's career you have a mix of skill and attitude. Life has other priorities and it's hard for the candidate to take the leap. I get it. It's not the right time but maybe it is in 6 months. Door is open. We want people: Who want to be here. Who want to set the industry standard. Who want to be challenged and not watch YouTube all day.
