On June 24, 2024, I left my home and family to embark on a new journey in Mumbai for my first job. It was a significant milestone—my first time living on my own and stepping into the professional world. The initial days were challenging, but those challenges taught me two invaluable lessons: 1. Discipline: The backbone of success. Discipline is the key that unlocks new opportunities and personal growth. It has transformed my approach to life and work, and I now understand its power in shaping my future. 2. Continuous Learning: No matter how much we think we know, there is always more to learn. Mumbai has been a reminder that knowledge is an endless ocean, and staying open to new learnings is essential. Growth comes from constantly challenging yourself and seeking out new knowledge. To anyone reading this: throw distractions out the window and focus on what truly matters—discipline and learning. It's been almost 4 years that I quit Procter & Gamble and moved from Mumbai to Jamshedpur. Moving to a "small town" has been life changing, quite literally! Even though I am born and brought up in Jamshedpur, I wasn't sure about life in a 'small town' after staying in cities like Hyderabad and Mumbai. I had a lot of apprehensions - "Will I have any social life there?", "What will I do on weekends?", "What kind of work environment will I have?", etc. But the last 4 years have been transformative. Living in a small town has its own demerits. But the merits far outweigh them (for me). Of course, it depends on individual choices. 1. I don't have to spend 20-25% of my day in traffic. My office is 14 km away which takes me 15 min to reach. Also, I am not irritated when I reach office (this is super important for me). 2. My monthly expenditure is much lower for almost the same 'quality of life' as in a larger city. 3. All 'ease of life' facilities are easily available (at lower cost) - food delivery, ecommerce, cabs, events, multiplex, etc. 4. Less crowded outdoors. I didn't feel like going out on weekends in Mumbai dreading the crowd. It's much better here. 5. I am able to give more time to my health and sports. 4 years back I wasn't really sure how life in a small town would turn out. The interview process unfolded seamlessly, providing a valuable opportunity for candidates to showcase their skills. Our organization specializes in conducting research to identify individuals in need of employment opportunities. We bridge the gap by connecting them with relevant courses, including BPO, BFSI, retail, and English-speaking skills classes. Following successful course completion, we establish connections with companies, organize job drives, and guide candidates through the entire process. The Tingrenagar job drive exemplified our commitment to this process, resulting in a successful and enlightening experience. I want to work with fortune 500 companies!! Its been few moths I relocated to Mumbai and I heard about different challenges here. The areas where me and Aariana Bastos are genuinely brainstorming is the mindset of our students, I am super proud of our students yet they have the mindset of close proximity. Most of the students are inclined to work in the close proximity and here in Mumbai the distance is measured by train stations not by "km". Another challenge which is growing rapidly is we all want to work with fortune 500 companies and we are not comfortable with their shift timings!! Back when I started my career I use to travel 40 kms by bus and one way I use to get cab as a transport. I have worked for 6:30 pm shift,3:30 am shift, 6:30 am shift,3:00 pm shift and normal shift. In the financial services industry if anyone is inclined to grow they need to be flexible, you will get to work with different set of professionals from different nations and if you are good in networking I can assure you this will help in your career growth. Our industry have a lot to offer and at the same time it demands the relevant skills and flexibility. At FPA Edutech we train you for the relevant skills and for flexibility we have multiple activities including industry expert sessions where we invited industry experts to share their experience ,recently we invited Ajay Jaisingh Priyanka Rana and we are expecting Mandar Mhatre on 10th July to share his decades of insight with our students. I cracked the XLRI Jamshedpur interview because I DID NOT want to! As bizarre as it may sound, here's how it happened. So when the shortlists came out for XLRI, I got through only for HR. I had absolutely no plans to pursue MBA in HR and already had converts from other top colleges (MDI, IIFT, etc.) by then. Since I was so sure of not going into HR, I decided to not even appear for the XLRI interview. Many people suggested otherwise as #XLRI is an amazing college. But I saw no point since I didn't want to study HR. However, when the interview slots were assigned, mine was scheduled in Bangalore (no slots in my city), that too just before a long weekend. As fate would have it, I was already scheduled to be in Bangalore for a preplanned trip. So I thought I will just go to the interview for the sake of it, for "experience" as they say. With no pressure of cracking it, I went in super chilled out (not casual though) for the GD and thoroughly enjoyed it. In the interview, the 1st question itself was "You were really good in the GD, how were you so relaxed and firm throughout?" The entire interview went on pretty smooth and when the results came in, I had cracked #xlrijamshedpur. I realized that not worrying about the end result helped me be calm and composed throughout, which enabled me to put my best foot forward. The Training and Placement Cell, Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi, conducted its placement drive for the academic session 2023-24, which received 1044 offers till 1st February 2024, including 11 international offers. The highest offered CTC was 1.68cr. Meanwhile, the mean salary stood at 23 lacs per annum. More than 200 domestic and international companies participated in the drive, which offered more than 350 roles. The top industry recruiters for this year’s drive were NK Securities, Google, Microsoft, Oracle, APT Portfolio, ICICI Bank, EXL, Plutus Research, ZS Associates, Ola, Navi, BPCL, Tata Projects, Groww, Flipkart, HSBC, etc. Engineering and technology roles saw the highest offers across the IT industry, the fintech space, and India's growing startup sector. The BFSI sector also served as a significant recruiting industry where the students of IIT (BHU) got opportunities. There was also a surge in the number of offers in the Product Management and Management Consulting roles.
