“Aree mera kudaa toh alag hee hai” “Ghar par Chhotte bacche hain unhone mix kiya” “Roj alag hee rehata hai par aaj hi mix ho gya” Our executives often receive excuses from members of our community during waste monitoring when confronted about their unsegregated waste. Our team has devised an innovative solution to address this issue! At our recent Mohalla meeting on waste collection, we asked the community the same question. We then demonstrated how time-consuming and challenging it can be for an individual to do this in large quantities and how easy it is in small amounts. We had a Waste Warrior segregate mixed waste from a lady during waste collection. After pouring the waste onto the road, we started a stopwatch, and it took about 2 minutes to segregate the waste of just one family. While 2 minutes may not seem like a long time, we calculated that in Muni ki Reti alone, where there are around 10,000 households, segregating all the waste generated in a day would take one person about 14 days or 20,000 minutes!
