2 MORE BIBLE READING APPROACHES …. Here’s two more Bible reading approaches that I’ve found useful. Hopefully your will find one or both beneficial. APPROACH #1: Read the Bible passage by passage. Having a Bible that is divided into subheadings is best for this approach. Select one passage bookend by a subheading at the top and bottom. Read this passage several times at one sitting. Then spend a few minutes thinking about what it says, how it might apply to your life, and what you are suppose to do with what God has shown you. APPROACH #2: Read the Bible one chapter at a time. Read one chapter 2-3 during one sitting. Then spend a few minutes thinking about what it says, how it might apply to your life, and what you are suppose to do with what God has shown you. Personally, I don’t use one Bible reading approach all the time. I prefer to mix them up. For me, I find if I stay with one approach for an extended period of time it turns into a “I have to do my prescribed Bible reading so I can check it off the list.” It gets to the point where I don’t get much out of it except to check the box that I did it. By mixing up my Bible reading between several different approaches I seem to stay more engaged. Perhaps give these two approaches a try and see how it goes for you.

TRY THIS … Every person you encounter today think to yourself … “This is an image bearer of God” Meaning they are made by God, for God, in God’s image, and Jesus died in order to offer them a way into the Kingdom of God. When you get ready to speak with someone remind yourself I’m talking with someone bearing the image of God. When you’re listening to someone remind yourself I’m listening to someone bearing the image of God. When someone cuts you off in traffic and you’re going to let them have it verbally or with gestures, remind yourself I’m going to do this to someone bearing the image of God. When you feel you’ve been wronged or taken advantage of by someone, before you react, remind yourself that this person is an image bearer of God. Consider trying this for one day … Just one day. See what happens.

DEFINING SUCCESS … What is Success for You - Personally? The question sounds simple on the surface. But if you will take the time to think about it, work on it, really look within yourself for the answer - I believe it can have a dramatic effect on your life. 1. It can change the direction your life is headed … OR 2. Refocus your commitment and energy to the direction your life is headed now. Back to the question … “What Is Success For You - Personally?” Simple … Yet … Most people haven’t given this question much attention. It’s not how someone else has defined Success for you. It’s how do you define Success for you? Have you spent much time thinking about this? Will you know when you’ve reached Success in your life? For men this can be a confusing question. Culture tells us that success for men is measured by their bank account, status in the community, their profession, the nice things they have, the house they live in, the cars they drive, where their children go to school, what their children do for a living, etc. What I’m finding is that many men do not consider achieving these things as living a successful life. These things don’t get them out of bed in the morning motivated to attack the day with enthusiasm. And that’s okay! You don’t have to allow the culture to define what it means for you to be living a successful life. Sometimes, men especially, need to hear this.

“My wife and I have been married for 54 years. I can’t prove she loves me. But I will stake my life on it.” Dr. John Lennox He made this point while discussing the concept of evidence based faith. Science is not based on proof but on evidence based faith. This is the same with Christianity. Christianity is not blind faith as some contend. Rather, Christianity is grounded in evidence based faith. Many challengers to the truth of Christianity like to use the phrase regarding Christianity, “prove it scientifically.” Well … that’s an interesting challenge. But working to prove something scientifically is using a standard (science) that is grounded in evidence based faith. So … Yes … we can use evidence based faith to prove Christianity. And, we all understand the concept of placing one’s faith in something based on evidence. Whether we know the term “evidence based faith” or not.
