As a member of the Dawes County Travel Board, I'm going to be straightforward about why all Dawes and Sioux County business owners, professionals, non-profits, food service managers, bartenders, roadside stand operators—everyone in the business community, plus everyone else in the community—need to attend Treasure Chest. 🟢 Tourist spending in our state increased from $3.5 billion in 2019 to $4.6 billion in 2023, outpacing the national growth trend four times over. 🟢 Dawes and Sioux counties have more natural beauty and attractions, and better outdoor recreation than anywhere else in Nebraska. We have all the makings of the premier tourist destination in our state. 🟢 The tourists are already here, and their economic impact could be much higher. 🟢 The dollars spent to attract tourists don't mean much if the local business community doesn't attract visitors to spend money while they're here. 🟢 "What a cute business!" "What a fun small-town environment!" "What a nice meal!" "What nice people and great service!" turns into $$$, and people recommend other people visit. Those other people have $$$. 🟢 (A secret? ^^^ Those phrases profit your business even if they're said about another business.) 🟢 When your employees are asked what there is to do here and reply, "I don't know" or "Not much," you're leaving money on the table for the entire community. 🟢 Problem-solving and overcoming real hurdles to the above is a group effort that requires open lines of communication and collaboration. 🟢 Treasure Chest was created to facilitate that communication and collaboration.

We're working on the line-up for the 5th annual Treasure Chest event! Open to Dawes and Sioux county tourism industry professionals, the event will provide opportunities for networking and more. RSVP by March 28! #discovernwnebraska
