The holidays are hard. The economy sucks. People are hurting. Uncertainty is everywhere. We have to do what we can to help. Today, I represented Bay County Disc Golf as President and donated a large (physically) and impactful (monetarily) check to the Gulf Coast Children's Advocacy Center. This is the third year in a row that our community has come together to donate over $2000 to a great cause. When we started Bay County Disc Golf in 2018, we always intended to be a 501(c)3 non-profit. We wanted to give back and invest in our community. We never expected to be donating multiple thousands of dollars twice a year. We are super fortunate to have such generous folks around us to help. This year, non-profits are struggling to meet their goals. I've overseen a significant contraction of our non-profit spending. Anecdotally, I'm hearing non-profits receiving half to a third of what they did a year ago. So, find a charity that does something you believe in this holiday season and donate. Every. Dollar. Counts. Many charities and non-profits depend on donations for grants matching as high as 7x the original contribution. If you don't have a charity you donate to, I'd love to tell you about our charity partners and see if you are interested in supporting them. The Gulf Coast CAC has some aggressive fundraising goals designed solely to ensure they can continue moving their vision forward. So, please. This holiday season. - Find a cause - Support the cause - Ask others to do the same - Check on at least one person you care about

Did you know that monthly donations make it easier for charitable organizations (such as ourselves) to plan ahead? That's why, for the month of March, CanadaHelps is encouraging donors to help Canadian charities build reliable funding for future endeavors. For the month of March, if you join the Whistler Institute as a new monthly donor, Canada Helps will donate $20.* By becoming a monthly donor, you join a network of community leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators that are shaping the future of Whistler-based thought leadership. And, by spreading out your donation throughout the year, you get to take advantage of charitable tax benefits while remaining intentional in your charitable giving. Monthly giving is one of the most efficient ways to donate. You don't have to worry about remembering to give every year, while still being able to make a big impact. Please consider creating a new monthly gift of $20 or more through CanadaHelps to support our charity. There's an expiry date to this offer -- so don't wait! Your donation will help us achieve our goals in 2024 and beyond. For details and to donate visit our CanadaHelps Make It Monthly Page: https://lnkd.in/gaFESaeQ Thank you for your support! *For monthly donations of at least $20. I've started writing about men's happiness. I do it because I might be the happiest man I know. Happiness is a choice and requires work. Maybe what worked for me will help some people.
"I do almost everything I do on a for profit basis because it's one of the ways of stopping yourself from making stupid decisions." -Jordan Peterson It's way easier to make dumb decisions with other people's money. Just ask politicians. I've heard charities praised because "95% of donations go to charity." And that always sounds great. But of course my mind always starts asking what-if questions. And I once donated a car to charity. So what if there are two charities. The first one takes your donated, junker car, sells it for $950, and keeps $50 for administration. That's 95% to charity. The second charity spends $1000 fixing your car, sells it for $2500, and keeps $100 for administration. That's 56% to charity. In the second case, $450 more dollars go to charity and someone makes a living fixing cars. But I bet 95% of people would automatically say the first charity is holier. I think they're lazier or less visionary. What do you think?

Last few days to nominate. Once again, ACBB is donating $25,000 to local charities – and you can help us choose them. We had a tremendous response to our inaugural Collective Impact Giving Campaign last year, and we’re excited to bring it back in 2024. Here’s how you can get involved again: Nominate your favorite local charity, and we’ll select 10 based on the nominations we receive. Each charitable organization will get $2,500 from ACBB on behalf of your financial institution. You’re welcome to nominate the same organization you chose last year, or a different one.* All nominations are due by April 30, 2024. Eligible charities include 501(c)(3) charitable organizations serving any state where ACBB operates, including CT, DC, DE, MA, MD, ME, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, TN, VA, VT, and WV. Nominate a charity that’s meaningful to you today! https://lnkd.in/e_5Fr5Me

At MyGivingCircle we have over 2,000 charities collecting donations on our platform. Our system continually tests and optimises our donation page to find the best converting elements to maximise donations for our participating charities. One element we optimise is the default (suggested) donation amount we recommend, and the minimum donation we allow. People are free to change the default amount but it provides an 'anchor' for a recommended amount. Analysing over 3,000 recent donations we can see the best performing 'ask' is $30 default (suggested) amount and a minimum donation amount of $1. Interestingly almost no-one chooses $1, but obviously people like the flexibility of being able to choose any amount. If you have a different experience with the best performing recommended and minimum donation amounts I'd love to hear from you. If you want to register your charity for free with MyGivingCircle and benefit from the donation optimisation we perform for charities around the world, we'd love you to register for free at https://lnkd.in/gFeNweka

ADVICE FOR CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS FROM A CALL I MADE YESTERDAY I wanted to make a donation to a national charity that affects me personally. I called the main number for the charity. The switchboard operator didn’t know where to switch the call. He switched the call to a department that does not handle donations. ThAT department switched the call to another department where I got voicemail. 24 hours later, no response! -Donations are often the lifeblood for charitable organizations. Make sure everyone in your organization, from the first person who answers the phone on up knows where callers who want to make donations should be directed to. -Make sure someone promptly follows up calls from potential donors. At the very least put donation information (address for the organization, info. donor should include with donation, etc.) on the voicemail, and a projected call back time frame. Granted my donation was not for a million dollars, but you never know when that big donation might be on the other end of the phone!

Scenario: You notice excess inventory is starting to take up a lot of space in your warehouse. You think "we need to get rid of this!" so you donate.. Great! Except..🤨 Most charities don't have the ability to turn that product into something valuable...So you may be creating more work for them than they can take on 😬 What's a charity for kids supposed to do with table saws? Or how are they supposed to move 50,000 mugs?! They don't have the capacity. We want to help you turn that 'we don't need it, lets donate it" into "Let's donate and create REAL impact for that charity" We have the ability to turn ANY product into charitable funds for a foundation of your choice. If you have excess product that you need moved, message us so we can help you get top dollar and do some good with it! #excessproduct #charity #inventorychallenges

𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟗𝐭𝐡 - 𝟏𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 Charitable gifts in Wills are on rise – and for many charities this is now one of their largest sources of donations, generating £4 billion for good causes each year. But, in challenging economic times, this vital income has never been more needed. These donations are sustaining charities and services across the country, funding: • 6 out of 10 RNLI rescue launches. • More than 50% of British Heart Foundation funding. • Over a third of Marie Curie UK hospice care. • Crucial support for hundreds of small and community-based charities. But… although we are a charitable nation, many don’t think to include a charitable donation when writing their Will. This is why Moneybox Wills and trusts have partnered with Remember A Charity to raise awareness and encourage more people to leave a gift in their Will. If you or a loved one has been touched by a charity and you would like to find out how to support them, please contact Moneybox Wills and trusts today. #charity #fundraising #makeaWill
