Just wrapped up an amazing escape room event on 3rd October, and we couldn't be more thrilled! This event was a perfect blend of collaboration, critical thinking, and fun, allowing our members to dive deep into challenging puzzles while building stronger connections with one another. The competition was structured in several exciting steps: 1) We kicked things off with the prelims, which featured a crossword puzzle focused on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) topics. 2) Next, participants had to decode a word that set the stage for the adventure ahead. 3) The fun continued in the E Room with a Pictionary round that tested their creativity and teamwork. 4) In the S Room, we embarked on a treasure hunt filled with riddles that kept everyone on their toes. 5) Finally, only 10 teams made it to the G Room, where the challenge involved deciphering Morse code—a thrilling finale! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us! Your enthusiasm and teamwork made a significant impact as we cracked codes and solved intricate challenges together. It was inspiring to see how our diverse skills came together to tackle each puzzle, reinforcing the power of collaboration within our community. Let’s keep this energy alive and look forward to more engaging events in the future! Together, we can achieve great things and continue to grow as a collective. I want to recommend to my colleagues on LinkedIn the attached podcast about the new book, ‘Technofeudalism: What Killed Capitalism’ by Yanis Varoufakis. It presents an interesting point of view about the power of global tech companies over finance and technology. ☁ Here are some noteworthy quotes that emphasize the point: "If you're Jeff Bezos, the owner of Google or Apple, or if you're Elon Musk, then you own this new form of cloud capital, which allows you to extract huge quantities of rents and surpluses from the rest of society, not only from proletarians but from everyone else as well." "This manner of extraction reconstitutes a form of feudalism. The difference is that instead of the original feudalism, which is a system based on private ownership of land producing rent, now it's private ownership of cloud capital." ☁ "The cloud is capital; it's not some cloud up in the sky. Every time you buy something from Amazon.com, 40% of what you pay doesn't go to the capitalist who is selling you that stuff; it goes to Jeff Bezos. That's a cloud rent, and he is a new form of feudal lord." Enjoy listening on your way home or during the weekend. Have an excellent weekend! Let me know if you enjoyed... 👍 👍 👍 #cloud #finance #technlogy #cfo #founders #ceo #weekendmood Yanis Varoufakis

As technology continues to become integral to the human condition and society at large, unprecedented issues arise – such as #AIethics, content moderation, and #privacy concerns. How do we foster productive action around these concerns, especially when areas like policy, government, and academia are involved? This week, Gather Dispatch hosts Jason Oberholtzer and Mimi Sun (MSL) Longo are joined by our own David Gaspar along with David Ryan Polgar, Founder and President of All Tech Is Human, a nonprofit organization dedicated to taking on technology and society’s intricate problems. David shares his own insights on some of today’s most pressing conversations in tech and the challenge of navigating issues as technology advances at a quicker pace than humans are able to react. “How do we lower the difference between the slowness of consideration, how we think about the norms of behavior, how we create laws around this, and the speed of innovation?” Click here to listen 👉 https://lnkd.in/eeAJBGhc

What’s better than hearing about and learning from people who are on the front lines and at the top of their game? That’s certainly the case with Ezra Hookano, SVP, MarketStar, who shared the realities of the biggest mistakes companies make with their channels. He laid it out bare on this morning’s Ecosystem Chronicles – and for sure, how using powerful intelligence solutions like PartnerOptimizer, Inc. can help avoid these non-profitable business scenarios. Do you see your business in this situation Ezra describes below: “Two of the biggest channel mistakes that companies struggle with -Number one, some companies try to select partners based on their revenue. Clearly, if it's a big large VAR, then a big large VAR is going to see big large projects and they show up as number one on the CRN 500. And I think I'm a really cool company. I should go target that VAR, right? … as somebody who's been asked by clients to do that numerous times, I'm just gonna tell you a story about me being asked for one of those clients. So first of all,(...) they said, "Hey Ezra, do whatever it takes, "shmooze them, get to know the right people." Fine, we took some people to the Super Bowl, right? Cost us like 50 grand, we got some executives. Of course, anybody in the world is gonna take Super Bowl tickets, they go, they hang out with us. And then the outside of that is, "Yes, let's have a meeting, "let's talk about where we're at." So I go back to my constituents, I hate being asked to do that, to my constituents, I hate, "We've got good decision makers, "we know where we're going, what can we offer them?" They say, "Hey Ezra, we have a $5 million piece of business "we want you to take and just hand them $5 million "at 30% margin." So really, I'm offering them $5 million and 1.5 million in cash for free, right?(...) Sounds like it should be an easy thing to do, but if you've done it before, you know it's not that simple, right? So I go in, I talk to them, "Hey, where are we at, how's it going?" And the guy says to me, "Look Ezra, we like you, "Super bowl is awesome, we want to do stuff with you." To be honest, if you give us the $5 million and the $1.5 million in cash, we'll take it. But I have to tell you that I do $150 million in revenue, product revenue with your competitor, and I also sell $200 million in services along with that. So taking your $5 million is gonna disrupt this $350 million. I know that if you've been in the channel for a long time, you've experienced that, but again, just a big mistake that you can make not targeting the correct partners, right? “ Watch the full episode to learn more and let us know when you’re ready for a demo – we can solve these problems and help you accelerate ROI 20 to 200X: https://lnkd.in/gCE8c-yR
