We had such a great time at this week's Dutch EdTech Community Event at the CoWo in Marineterrein! Here are some highlights 🌟 🔑 Keynote by Jitske van Os and Rüya Aysu Erdoğan: Our Managing Director and Community Manager took the stage to explain the newest developments within Dutch EdTech, including exciting new resources for our members, new report, and the upcoming members survey coming out next week! 🗣️ Talk by Dimitrios Vlachopoulos, PhD, SFHEA, FRSA Vlachopoulos: We were so happy to be joined by Dimitrios, a renowned EdTech expert & Associate Professor in the Innovation Management Section of the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, who gave an exciting talk focused on the transition to evidence-based innovation in EdTech. Some interesting takeaways: 🔹 ”I will not normalize driving without a license”: highlighting the importance of EdTech innovators being well informed and well educated in education sciences 🔹 Sustainable innovation and feedback-based development: the importance of collecting data in a systematic way to make sure the product works as desired and to make changes when necessary 🔹 Considering research-based innovation as a worthwhile process, rather than focusing on misconceptions of it being too slow or bureaucratic 🔹 The process of change: how companies can begin the transition to evidence-based EdTech, and how this transition will manifest in K-12 and higher education 💭 Discussion on evidence-based innovation in EdTech: The talk was followed by a great Q&A between Dimitrios and the audience, where our members were able to continue the discussion with all of their burning questions. 🤝 Networking, networking, and more networking: We were so glad to see EdTech experts, investors, and a diverse range of EdTech professionals, from pre-K to lifelong learning, all come together to connect, share insights, and build meaningful relationships. Great conversation about evidence of efficacy in ed tech, happy to be a part of it. One thing that came up in the webinar that I always like to emphasize is the need for evidence of a wider variety of outcomes. Beyond content knowledge, I'd love to see products demonstrating evidence of building future-ready skills, and with more diverse types of implementations.
