How should we rethink delivery of #retrofit in the UK? National Retrofit Hub's new 'State of the Nation Review' dives deep into how retrofit is currently being delivered in the UK, and found three overarching challenges with current programmes: 📈 Scale. With only 3 million homes over the last 10 years receiving retrofit measures, we need vastly more ambitious programmes and funding to achieve our climate targets ✅ Consistency. Retrofit policy changes have been devastatingly damaging to the supply chain and citizen engagement. We need clarity of direction to build industry confidence and start a 'national retrofit conversation.' 🏡 Scheme design. The way retrofit programmes have been set up often don't work in practice and ignore important factors that would engage householders eg the health and wellbeing benefits of home upgrades. We're also pleased to see important topics raised, including embracing digital solutions, empowering residents, and finding new funding and finance options (among many more!). Especially as so many of these are fundamental to our Innovate UK funded #TransformER project, designed to tackle retrofit’s biggest barriers to scale and enable one million home upgrades every year by 2030.
