The laparoscopic approach is a highly innovative method that we frequently prefer for the surgical treatment of anterior pelvic ring injuries and symphysis pubis separations in orthopedic surgery. This approach can also be applied to acetabular fractures in selected cases. In this particular case, we performed a laparoscopic-assisted (total extraperitoneal approach) minimally invasive percutaneous screw and plate fixation for a patient with a left acetabulum transverse fracture. Compared to traditional open surgeries, the laparoscopic approach offers numerous advantages, including less bleeding, reduced postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, early postoperative mobilization, and more satisfactory cosmetic results. Why Does ACL Reconstruction Fail? Dr. Cunningham sees ACL reconstructions fail for a number of reasons. Failure of an ACL reconstruction is most commonly due to shortcomings in the surgical technique. The most common example of inadequate surgical technique is improperly placed femoral and/or tibial tunnels. In ACL reconstruction surgery, an ACL tendon graft is seated into a bone socket in the femur and into another bone socket in the tibia. Ideally, these bone sockets are placed exactly where the original ACL attached to one’s femur and tibia. Unfortunately, some surgeons use surgical techniques that do not perfectly replicate these ACL attachments sites in the knee and they place their bone sockets outside of these native ACL attachment sites. When an ACL graft is then secured in mal positioned bone sockets, the graft will see unusual biomechanical forces and over time the ACL graft will stretch out and/or tear with minimal trauma. https://buff.ly/3fZ7kK6 #ACLReconstruction #ACLRevisionSurgery

Robotic knee replacement vs. manual knee replacement was a big debate during the last decade! Many of my fellow orthopaedic surgeons shifted to robotic surgery from the conventional knee replacement technique. One of the most common reasons is better precision in implant positioning, and some other reasons are marketing and peer pressure from fellow colleagues and the market! I do like robotic surgery for a few patients who have associated complications. A large majority of our patients do extremely well with conventional surgery, and this is another insightful study that suggests that a well-planned conventional knee replacement is equally effective in terms of clinical outcomes compared to robotic knee replacement. Current literature also shows that there is no difference in the long-term outcomes between robotic surgery and conventional surgery. The latest in a long line of papers coming out of non conflicted centres, all over the world, stating that Robots dont do anything to improve implantational positioning or clinical outcomes of total knee replacements when compared with conventional surgery. The three line conclusion highlighted below is damning. In saying that there is no difference in implant positioning or in patient outcomes despite costing a million dollars the reader can only come to the conclusion that the cost benefit analysis of these technologies screams out that joint replacement gimmick are only a marketing ploy and a total waste of money.
