This article reminded me of a time when my then line manager scored me really low on a series of 360º questions, when everyone (literally every other person in the survey) else scored me reasonably highly. I sat down to talk with him about what he was seeing in me that others weren't, and his response was "I scored you low so that it would challenge you more to be even better". That low blow hit harder than seeing the low scores themselves. It was demotivating, unfair and quite honestly insincere. Maybe some other people in the team would have taken the challenge and determinably sought to prove the hypothesis. Or maybe, like me, they started to not value his feedback. It was one of those defining moments in my career, where I knew that I would never be like that as a leader. Fairness is everything. And that is why Sarah Clarke CDir Fellow ABP and I are now in business together, developing better leaders, more effective organisations, and healthy cultures, not toxic ones. #culture #leadership

Happy B Corp Month! 🌍 This March marks 1 year since Cooper Parry became a B Corp. Our Sustainability team is always developing strategies, educating the wider business and making sure our ESG is in line with our B Corp commitment. Meaning we can keep moving forward. The team have asked CPers all to make a pledge - quick wins for me are using less energy at home and and walking (rather than driving) to the train station! The second-year report on the historic #DindigulAgreement, led by the Tamil Nadu Textile and Common Labour Union (TTCU), Asia Floor Wage Alliance (AFWA), and Global Labor Justice-International Labor Rights Forum (GLJ-ILRF), has just been released. It sheds light on the significant progress made in combating #gender and #castebased #violence in the #textileindustry in Tamil Nadu, India. As AFWA, GLJ-ILRF, FEMNET, TTCU and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH continue to work towards expanding this agreement, the potential for broader adoption and replication holds promise for a more equitable and just garment industry worldwide.
