The Goodwill is a non-profit organization that relies on donations from the community to support its mission of providing employment and job training opportunities for individuals in need. By stealing from the Goodwill, you are essentially taking away from those in the community who are less fortunate and in need of support. Furthermore, the act of stealing from the Goodwill goes beyond just taking physical items. It also takes away from the goodwill and generosity of individuals who have donated their items with the intention of helping others. It is a violation of trust and a betrayal of the community's support for the organization. Moreover, stealing from the Goodwill not only affects the organization and the community, but it also has legal consequences. It is a crime that can result in fines, imprisonment, and a permanent criminal record. Is it really worth risking everything for a few items that could easily have been purchased or donated? Additionally, by stealing from the Goodwill, you are also indirectly hurting yourself. The Goodwill provides affordable goods for those in need, and by stealing from them, you are contributing to the rising cost of living and making it harder for those on a tight budget to afford necessary items. Instead of stealing from the Goodwill, why not consider supporting the organization in a positive way? This could be through volunteering your time, donating items or simply making a monetary contribution. Every little bit helps and goes towards a greater cause of helping the less fortunate in our communities. It's the Season of Giving. And many will donate this season to the amazing #ToysforTots organization. Here are some tips & recommendations from a father and annual donator. 1. Too many people get baby or toddler toys. However, many young children, pre-teens and even teenagers can benefit from Toys for Tots. So consider giving this year something that a 6-12 year old might enjoy. Maybe an entry grade #Gunpla? https://lnkd.in/eJhY33aW 2. Donate locally. Most Toys for Tots and similar programs do their best to keep the donations locally. So you are not just helping a child or family to make sure they have a christmas toy this year - but a family in your very own community! 3. If you have children, take them with you to go pick a toy out. We do this every year with our now 6-year-old boy. It teaches compassion, empathy, and sympathy. We have him typically pick a toy out that he would like for himself under $10 while making him understand he 'gets to play Santa' and make a child whose parents can't afford presents to have one this year. 4. If you pick a toy - make sure its a toy that doesn't need anything additional. For example this Pikachu Quick Model Kit (Pokemon-Gunpla essentially!) requires no glue, tools or anything else! https://lnkd.in/ec9T2cNA 4b. To follow up on that, some things I would NOT get: Trading Cards, Collectibles of a game (i.e. Bakugan), Individual or a small set of Hot Wheels cars (get a little playset instead!). 4c. Hot Wheels playset idea: https://lnkd.in/euVdyhNc 5. Do not get toys that might need smartphones / apps to fully function and get configured. These families in need might not have reliable internet and/or smartphones compatible with the latest app needs. For example Lego Mario needs some syncing and some instructions are only available on their app. 6. Do it out of good will, not expecting anything in return. Simply do it (if you can afford to!), to make sure that other families and children in YOUR community can have a happy christmas and see that there is still good in the world by making them see there are people willing to give to those who are struggling. Simply imagine yourself if you couldn't afford your kids toys and you would be handed a toy from 'Santa' to pass on to your child. How would make that him or her feel - being able to get something when the expectation might have been 'sorry no gifts this year'? Happy holidays, don't forget to thank those around you whom you are grateful for, don't forget to give & share what you can (even if its just lending your ear & time to someone). PS: I say Happy Holidays because there are a TON of holidays, like Diwahli yesterday (11/14), or China's singles day on 11/11. Thanksgiving is coming up next week. So out of respect I say 'happy holidays' not to single anything out or make anyone feel excluded.
