According to an ICIS PET report (2022), over 70% of consumed RPET was used for bottle and tray packaging applications in the European market. RPET end-uses: ♻ 48% in bottles ♻ 25% in trays ♻ 15% in fibers ♻ 6% in strapping ♻ 6% in others The recycled content rate must increase across all applications to meet the growing demand for RPET and achieve EU recycling targets. However, the availability of RPET is currently limited. Harmonizing collection systems and improving recycling rates are essential steps to ensure a sufficient RPET feedstock supply. In plastic industries, we face the problems of odors especially in food packaging. I faced that in Blown film due to corona treatment. Closed loop #recycling at Speira Back on the shelf in 60 days: old aluminium cans become new aluminium cans – infinitely and without loss of quality, because aluminium is 100% recyclable. Consumers drop off their empty #cans at recycling machines where they are sorted, baled or shredded. In our recycling plant, the colored coating of the cans is first removed. In the next step, the can scrap is melted in a furnace and cast into huge aluminium ingots. After this process, we roll them into aluminium strip, which is used to produce beverage cans in many different sizes and specifications. At Speira, we are working hard to raise the beverage can recycling rate across Europe. We are driving forward the lean recycling process of the future, with even shorter transport routes. Did you know foam polystyrene packaging like egg cartons, cups, takeout containers (e.g., clamshells), and shipping packaging can be recycled? It tends to get overlooked because it is >90% air, and shipping air is not the best use of money. HOWEVER, when the foam is DENSIFIED, recycling makes more sense and cents! The Foodservice Packaging Institute (I provide communication support for this group 📢 😁) is accepting applications for grants to help with purchasing equipment (like densifiers) to increase foam recycling. Eligible entities manage material recovery facilities (MRFs), curbside recycling programs, or drop-off centers. Up to $50K per grant!
