On Juneteenth, Broadlawns Medical Center honors those who did not live to see their freedom from enslavement, and celebrates the communities they birthed. We are proud to remember a female pioneer in BMC's 100-year-history, Gwendolyn Wilson Fowler. Ms. Fowler was Broadlawns - and the State of Iowa's - first Black female pharmacist. She was also celebrated and added to the Evelyn K. Davis Center For Working Families Wall of Excellence. A fellow pharmacist in the early days. We were far and between women of color. So happy to see her recognized.
