Happy #PRIDE Month! June is PRIDE Month, and an opportunity to raise awareness of current issues facing the LGBTQIA+ community. For 100 years and counting, we have strongly focused on our local community - embracing inclusion, belonging and health equity - which allows us to culturally serve our diverse patient and employee population with fairness, respect, and access to the resources they need. You can show your support for the LGBTQIA+ community by: • Lending your voice • Volunteering your time • Joining community events and remembrances • Increasing your awareness through reading and watching LGBTQIA+ books and films #ACenturyOfCaring #BroadlawnsMedicalCenter #PRIDEMonth #LGBTQIA+

📚 Earlier this month, Thrive Youth Center hosted a #bookclub discussion on "No House to Call My Home" by Ryan Berg 🦋 📍As a professional in #youthhomelessness spaces, I related to the #storytelling from a case management point of view, and can say that although these individual stories are unique to each youth, the general themes are unfortunately far too common. 🔎The book paints an excellent picture of the direct pipeline of #fostercare to #homelessness and the social and system dynamics that create this traumatic reality for so many people. Disparities against #lgbtq are escalated in this pipeline with over 50% of youth ages 18-24 represented within this identity intersection, leading to an overwhelming increase in vulnerability factors. 💡This is a •must read• for anyone in the field who has trouble putting their work experiences into words, and for anyone willing to learn about youth homelessness to be a part of the #solution. 💭 "A lot of ignorance and injustice has to be uncovered and put right. But we can't limit our discussion to an easily digestible sound bite. [sic] Youth homelessness, in part, is the end product of the failure of other systems." Let's come together as a #community to build a system of care that works for the people we set out to serve! 🔥 #housingforall #housingfirst

🌈✨ Today, on the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, we stand firm in our commitment to equality, freedom, and justice for all. At Project Good Apparel, we believe in the power of love, acceptance, and inclusivity, and we are dedicated to supporting the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community. 🌍❤️ This year's theme, “No one left behind: Equality, freedom and justice for all,” resonates deeply with us. Despite the progress made in recent years, much work still needs to be done. Discrimination and stigma continue to plague our society, leading to serious health disparities and other inequities. That's why we support non-profits in states where LGBTQIA+ rights are under attack. We are committed to helping create a world where everyone is free to be their true selves, without fear or prejudice. Let's continue to push for change, celebrate our diversity, and stand in solidarity with our LGBTQIA+ family. Together, we can make sure no one is left behind. 🌟💪 #IDAHOTB #DoGood #EqualityForAll #LGBTQIA #ProjectGoodApparel #LoveIsLove #StandUpForEquality #InclusionMatters #SupportPride #NoOneLeftBehind #JusticeForAll

🌈 Today, we celebrate IDAHOBIT, a day to honour the diversity within our community and embrace each other for who we are! 🌈 This day marks the 33rd anniversary of the World Health Organisation removing homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases in 1990. May 17 serves as a reminder of the strides made toward LGBTQIA+ rights and underscores the ongoing battle against discrimination and for equality. At The Gray Area, we strive to create a place where everyone belongs. Our commitment to inclusion shines through our values and actions. We recognise that supporting the mental health of the LGBTQIA+ community is vital in this effort. 🌟 Discrimination and exclusion have profound impacts on mental health. Today, we acknowledge that more work is needed to ensure a safe and inclusive space for our community. Together, we can make a difference by fostering acceptance, understanding, and support for everyone's mental well-being. Creating a place where everyone belongs takes more than a single day. Let's continue to work together for a brighter tomorrow. 🌈💖 #IDAHOBIT #LGBTQIA #MentalHealth #Equality #Inclusion

#Milestone002 #socialimpact Being a #businessforgood means that we have slowly shifted our business model to create space for #communityimpact projects that have a direct impact on the #healthanswellbeing of those who are must vulnerable in our communities in Leeds. In 2023, we developed a record number of community projects for a wide range of communities across the region. One such project that I am so proud of is the #CreativeVoices project. As many of you may know, over the past few years I have been fortunate to create a series of uplifting and empowering projects with the #elderlyLGBTQ + living in Leeds. The projects have not just enabled the participants to find friendships, learn new creative arts but what it has enabled is for the participants to find hope. Hope in themselves, hope in living and in being. Here is a short video that shares just a few glimpses of joy and the hope and the life affirming experiences experienced by these lovely beings. Our #learning- Pull together a team of passionate, kind and talented associates to work with you. With scale comes the brilliant art of delegation (A learning curve for any entrepreneur!) but that delegation encourages beautiful collaborations too so if you are on the fence about this, give it a shot! I have loved seeing the impact we have been able to create because of #collaborations. On a side note- We are always keen to speak with #organisations who would like to support our #Communityengagement work- drop me a line and lets chat. https://lnkd.in/dkVzSQdD

We conclude the cycle of lectures within the course "Inclusive City" with a meeting with the "The Others" (“ІншыЯ”) project, which is engaged in the promotion and inclusion of cross-cutting values in the work of civil society, as well as the formation and increase of resilience of vulnerable groups. What is inclusion? Inclusion is the process of involving of various vulnerable groups in the life of society. Why do we need inclusion? Inclusion guarantees everyone equal opportunities to participate in society. Inclusion is about: • people and diversity • process / creation of conditions • reciprocity, reciprocity, non-coercion • subjectivity and independence • "Nothing about us without us" What groups need to be included in public processes? • people with limited mobility; • visually impaired and blind people; • people with weak hearing and complete hearing loss; • people with mental disabilities; • parents with children; • LGBTQ+ community; • eco-friendly people • … (these are just examples, there are many more groups*): read about what the inclusion consists of in the following cards! #moo_cud #community #cud #inclusivecity
