We hold our leaders to account as the “voice of business.” ❌ Myth: "Membership Costs A Lot Of Money." 💸 ✅ Fact: Like insurance, it’s an investment., but a relationship with a vibrant business association provides a support network you can count on in good times and bad (i.e. We provided free support to hundreds of businesses during Covid-19). Substantive digital, analytic and event benefits are offered in a tiered pricing model to fit all budgets. ❌ Myth: "Membership Is Just For The Owner." 🎩 ✅ Fact: All employees of a company may use and enjoy Chamber resources and benefits. All employees can access the membership and they become more engaged employees as a result. The Stratford-upon-Avon Business Improvement District (BID) company is delighted to announce that it has been re-elected for a further five years. The result, which was endorsed following a ballot of 382 local businesses, will see the BID continue its mission to enhance the local business environment and stimulate economic growth within the town centre. The independent ballot was conducted by Civica election management company and the result is: 54% voted Yes by number of businesses 72% voted Yes by rateable value 36% turnout The successful ballot will result in £1.9 million reinvestment over the next five years into the improvement of the local business landscape, aimed at driving increased footfall, elevating sales turnover, and enhancing the overall appeal of the town centre. Under the new 5-year BID business plan spanning from 2024 to 2029, the BID is committed to a range of initiatives designed to benefit the local business community. These initiatives include the appointment of dedicated Police Officers, provision of business crime radios, and the organisation of high-profile events such as annual food and motor festivals, as well as the Christmas lights switch-on event. Additionally, the BID will introduce a loyalty app to encourage employees within the BID area to support local businesses, implement new footfall counters to measure the impact of events, and, with the businesses, develop a night-time economy strategy. In a bid to showcase the diverse array of local businesses, the BID will launch a new independents guide, food and drink guide, and professional services guide. Furthermore, the popular lifestyle magazine will make a return to bolster the promotion of local businesses. The recruitment of a new BID Manager will get underway shortly. Commenting on the successful renewal, Rich Jones, BID Chairman said, "Today marks a new era with a new set of exciting initiatives, we are delighted that businesses have backed the BID for a further 5 years and we would like to thank the local businesses that voted for Stratford-upon-Avon to retain BID status”. Letterkenny Chamber - Donegal’s premier business membership organisation – has met a membership milestone, reaching a total of 300 members - and counting, in September '23.   The Chamber, founded in 1965 - now represents 300 businesses and over 8000 employees, including the largest employers in Letterkenny, small to medium sized businesses, semi-state bodies, financial institutions, retailers, professional services and multi-nationals – across the town, county and Northwest City region. Letterkenny Chamber are Donegal’s only full-time Chamber, affiliated to Chambers Ireland – representing the interests of the business community through lobbying, while promoting economic development in the region.   Letterkenny Chamber President, Fionnuala Rabbitt said of the achievement;   “Letterkenny Chamber has always retained a strong core membership in the area, with the help of the Chamber staff, the Chamber Council, past presidents - and particularly the ‘Membership, Research and Development’ Sub Committee, we have developed a strategic plan to grow the membership in recent years. This strategy was complemented by the strong support the Chamber has historically offered in terms of leadership, communication and advice to the business community - membership and beyond – which was specifically pertinent throughout the challenging Covid19 lockdown periods.”   “Growth of the membership helps us to provide continued, focused lobbying locally and nationally. It helps us to facilitate bigger networking opportunities and to create the best environment possible for local and regional business to thrive. The growth plan for Letterkenny Chamber membership covers a wide range of industry sectors and organisation sizes, from sole-traders right up to the multi-nationals – all are welcome, as the larger the collective voice, the better."   One activity that has helped progress this strategy, was the appointment of a full-time Business Development Executive in September 2022 – Marie Shields. Marie joined the Letterkenny Chamber team one year ago, Marie is tasked with recruiting new members and is responsible for member engagement, as well as looking after events and marketing activity focused on membership, on behalf of the Chamber. Marie previously ran her own marketing consultancy working with local and national companies, stakeholder groups and educational institutions in the area of digital marketing and strategic communications.   63 new members were acquired in the last year which include companies and employers of all sizes – leaders in their respective sectors for example; Boyle Construction, ElectroRoute Circet Efficient Renewables and Donegal Bees all consistently growing their no. of employees - to collaborators such as Failte Ireland in Donegal, Ulster University and Tech NorthWest Skillnet – as well as new businesses to the locality such as Letterkenny Medics.

London’s Local Chambers (LLC) is a forum to promote membership, raise awareness, and influence of local Chambers across London. After serving the three year term as the Chair of LLC, Helen McIntosh of South East London Chamber has decided to stand down, as too the Deputy Chair, Anne Newton, of Richmond Chamber of Commerce. The LLC would like to recognise the hard work that they have put in over a particularly challenging three year period and for providing closer links to the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). LLC looks forward to working with them in the future as contributors in the forum. An election process was held and I am honoured and grateful to have been elected Chair for LLC. I will be supported by Alan Rides, the Chief Executive Officer of West London Chambers of Commerce, as the Deputy Chair. I am such a firm believer in the local value and business commitment Chambers can play in their respective London boroughs. I have seen this demonstrated time and time again, and this is due to the leadership of these Chambers. I would like to thank Helen, Anne and Despina for all their work during the COVID period and for building the new, productive relationships with London Chamber of Commerce. I am looking forward to working alongside Alan who has considerable business experience, an enviable networking knowledge. The question is who does he not know!
