As an HR executive, living and working with compassion means prioritizing the well-being of our employees, who in turn dedicate themselves to the care of our residents. Unlike my colleagues and co-workers, whose primary focus is directly on our residents—from custodians and maintenance staff to CNAs, LPNs, RNs—my focus is on the people who make our mission possible: our employees. Compassion in my role involves ensuring that our team members have the support they need to thrive, both professionally and personally. This means crafting and implementing policies and procedures that not only foster a positive work environment but also empower our staff to deliver the best possible care to our residents. By working compassionately, we create a workplace where employees feel valued, supported, and equipped to provide compassionate care. It’s about recognizing the vital role each team member plays and ensuring they have the resources and environment needed to succeed. When we care for our employees with the same dedication they show our residents, we build a stronger, more resilient organization. It’s a cycle of care that starts with us and radiates out to every individual we serve.
Get to know more about the Pavilions each week by learning more about our Mission, Vision, and Core Values! Our mission is to provide accessible, trusted and compassionate care that enhances quality of life for aging adults. One of the ways we do this is with compassion. We strive to deliver care in a most loving and empathetic manner as we would care for our own family. What does living and working with compassion mean to you?

A new year brings new ways to incorporate healing justice into our systems! Recently the @Louisiana Department of Health (LDOH) announced the release of the Whole Health Louisiana State Plan (2024-2028), through which the LDOH and various state leaders will address the causes and effects of childhood adversity across the state. This process involves a lot of education, training, and continuous self-reflection, yet by becoming trauma-informed, people and communities can create supportive environments that facilitate healing, resilience, and recovery for those affected by trauma. We’re even more excited to announce this plan because our Founder, Dr. Denese Shervington, contributed an article to it entitled, “Moving Beyond Racialized Traumas to Achieve Whole Health for Louisiana.” Throughout history, racial harm has been embedded in our institutions and it has affected both communities that are oppressed and the oppressors themselves. To find out more about how we can move beyond racialized traumas and learn more about this new initiative, click https://bit.ly/3TY1JIY !

Today, on International What Matters Most to You? Day, let's reflect on the power of shifting our approach to care. Moving from asking "What's the matter with you?" to "What matters to you?" opens doors to transformative conversations between caregivers and individuals. Prioritizing meaningful dialogues can lead to shared understanding and support, ensuring that everyone's values are respected throughout their care journey. 🏥⚕️👩🏻⚕️🩵#WhatMattersMost #HealthcareConversations #InternationalDay
Today, we celebrate "What Matters to You?" Day (WMTY) 2024. Inspired by a 2012 New England Journal of Medicine article titled "Shared Decision-Making: The Pinnacle of Patient-Centered Care," written by Michael Barry and Susan Edgman-Levitan, WMTY is intended to shift the power to the person who knows best about the help or support they need, whether it be a person with a medical issue or the clinicians or staff providing care. This international day of celebration aims to encourage and support more meaningful conversations between caregivers who provide health and social care (including family caregivers) and those they are or will care for in the future.
