#Newly_diagnosed_with_HIV Whatever your age, gender, sexuality, race or level of education – feeling shock, anger, guilt or blame is normal. Whoever you are, HIV can be controlled (made undetectable) with the appropriate treatment. You will have HIV for life, but treatment can keep you healthy and stop you from passing HIV to anyone else. This is called being undetectable. The best thing is to be open with your healthcare provider – ask them all the questions you have so that you feel informed about HIV. #positiveliving #moneko_zoto_foundation_the_beacon_of_hope_for_children_and_youngpeople_living_with_hiv

💬 Your words have power! Choose them with care to #PutPeopleFirst: ✅ "People living with HIV" and not ❌ "Infected people" ✅ "HIV acquisition" and not ❌ "Infection" ✅ "A person who has acquired HIV" and not ❌ "Catching" or "Spreading HIV" Check out more guidance and join us in using inclusive language in the HIV response!

In the HIV community, peers are people living with HIV, who share similar experiences and are part of the same communities as the people we support. At Positive Life NSW, we believe people living with HIV (peers) are best placed to support and advocate as equals for the needs of all people living with HIV. Whether it’s treatments questions, counselling support, ageing, employment or vocational support, or social connection, the value of speaking with and getting support from someone else with a lived experience of HIV can make all the difference. #PeerSupport #HIV https://lnkd.in/gKtmDDGF

Today on #ZeroDiscrimination Day, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting everyone's right to dignity, equality and access to essential services and ensuring every individual can access healthcare without fear of discrimination. Our recent evaluation of the UN Joint Programme on AIDS's work with key populations echoes this mission. Our findings indicated that the Joint Programme on AIDS is well positioned to enhance advocacy for change in punitive legal environments, campaign to reduce stigma and discrimination targeting these populations, and defend rights to access services. 📖 Check out the key messages and report here: https://lnkd.in/dQyKMBQK Let's continue to champion equality, diversity, and inclusion to build a more just and equitable world. #Inclusion #Equality
1 in 8 people living with HIV avoided clinics because they feared stigma or discrimination based on their HIV status. Discrimination creates barriers to access to HIV prevention, testing, treatment and care, and holds back progress to #endAIDS. Protecting everyone's rights to dignity, equality, and access to essential services ensures that every individual can lead a healthy life free from discrimination and oppression. When we prioritize and uphold these rights, we create environments where people can access the healthcare they need, make informed choices about their well-being, and live without fear of violence or discrimination. #ZeroDiscrimination

It's Women's Health Week! Women living with HIV are diverse in terms of education, ethnicity, sexuality and where and how they choose to live their lives. There is no ‘typical’ woman with HIV because HIV is a virus that can infect anyone. As woman with HIV you have the right to: 👉 choose when and if you tell people about your HIV status 💉 take control of your health and make your own decisions about how you live with HIV 👩⚕️ work with your doctor to choose which antiretroviral treatments you take, and the 🏥 right to change treatment if it isn’t working for you ❤️ a full and active sex life 👶 have children 👷♀️work and to make changes to the way you work 🤍 high quality health care in an environment which is supportive, sensitive and free from discrimination Here's an audio clip of our conversation with Lucy from Women's Health Tasmania from earlier this year, on the rights of women living with HIV. https://loom.ly/4CGrSf0 #WomensHealthWeek
