Since 2019, the revenue that the latter generates has almost doubled to approach, in 2023, $ 300 million . My end-of-year speech as President of the Italian Esports Association : Esports enthusiasts and members of the Italian Esports Association, 2023 is coming to a close, and it has been a year filled with emotions. From a precarious start and strong uncertainties, we managed to completely overturn expectations, establishing ourselves as the true reference for esports in Italy. Indeed, 2023 marks the rebirth of the Italian Esports Association, which, in just a few months, has once again asserted itself as a benchmark for Italian esports not only nationally but also internationally. Along our journey in these months, we have encountered more and more enthusiasts like us who have chosen to share the path of esports. So, it has been a year full of surprises and new connections that have already borne important and valuable fruits. I want to highlight above all the birth of the Mediterranean Esports Championship, which saw France (FFJV - Fédération Française de Jeu Vidéo, Italy (Italian Esports Association, Libya (Libyan Esports Federation), Syria (Syrian Esports Association), and Tunisia (Tunisian Esports Federation) coming together in an agreement that positions the Italian Esports Association as one of the founding organizations representing Italy in the realm of esports!! 2024 promises to be a year of development and growth, with many national and international initiatives that we will soon announce. 🚨 Yesterday we had the opportunity to participate and sponsor again the most important event for the video game sector in France, the #Pégases2024 🎮awards of Académie des Arts et Techniques du Jeu Vidéo 🎮 Why is this event important in France?  Let's find out what is beyond a video game, or rather, what is inside a video game and what it means to produce it.  👉 Video games (for consoles, PCs and phones) have become one of the most popular leisure activities in the world, in which France plays a very important role as a world reference, not only in development but also in distribution and training. ✌ Annual figures for the video games industry are reaching record levels: the European market will grow to 24.5 billion euros by 2022. In France, the turnover in 2022 will exceed 5.6 billion euros. Already in the 1980s, France, with entities such as Infogrames Entertainment, SA and Ubisoft, and the UK with its Rockstar Games, have been at the origin of this industry. Right now in Europe, the France-Germany-Poland axis is a source of employment, which makes this sector strategic for Europe, generating some 110,000 jobs, of which 20,000 are in France. In France, we have around 700 development studios and some 1,200 companies dedicated to video games, which are the main source of employment in the sector.  👌 This sector, which mixes many disciplines (design, scenography, soundtrack, cinema,...) is closely linked to technological evolution, which places it at the forefront of all digital revolutions. Despite being an industry that in all studies speaks of permanent growth and is linked to the latest generation of technological development, where Artificial Intelligence plays a key role in the technological disruption in which we find ourselves, there are still few public funds that specifically support its development. It is worth noting that the European Commission Programme Horizon Europe , within the @Creative Europe programme (Media ) https://lnkd.in/dgHnr6nU, has only allocated 6 million euros (data from 2022) to video games out of a total budget of 385.6 million. This is not an alarmist figure because there are many other funding alternatives that our FI Group Group helps to define and manage. 🖐 I would like to close this post with the profile of the gamer in France, which as a first impact affects all genders and all ages. The average age is 39, 47% are women and 19% of regular gamers are retired. Don't forget that in addition to the Pegasus awards of L'Académie des Arts et Techniques du Jeu Vidéo with which I started this post, which are the most important in France, there are other big EVENTS like this world-wide The Game Awards, or like the eSPORTS competitions, or the NETFLIXATION of many of these games.
