A Call for Unity and Safety in Our Community Community Members, I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits, despite the challenging times we find ourselves in. Today, I write to you with a heavy heart, as we mourn the loss of an Oakland police officer who tragically lost their life while on duty. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the impact that gun violence can have on our communities. I understand that there is a strain in our community when it comes to the relationship between law enforcement and the community. However, when a life is taken so tragically, it affects each and every one of us. It is during times like these, when tensions are high and hearts are heavy, that we must come together as a community. I implore both community members and law enforcement officers to take a pause during these trying times. Let us prioritize safety and unity above all else. It is crucial that we work towards building bridges of understanding and trust between law enforcement and the community. By doing so, we can create a safer and more harmonious environment for all. I also ask that we keep the affected families in our thoughts and prayers. They are going through unimaginable pain and loss, and it is our duty as a community to support them in any way we can. Let us extend our compassion and empathy to those who have been impacted by today's tragic events. In the face of adversity, it is important that we stand together as a united community. Let us not allow this incident to further divide us, but instead, let it serve as a catalyst for positive change. Together, we can work towards creating a safer and more inclusive community for everyone. Please stay safe during these challenging times, and remember to look out for one another. Together, we can overcome any obstacles that come our way. With heartfelt condolences and solidarity, Jon Henry Both Sides Of The Conversation Changing The Narrative From Our Voices. Helping K12 district leaders make sense of their data to maximize funding 💰, drive academic performance 📊, and optimize the budget for what actually works 🎯.
If you don’t drive the narrative about your school district, someone else will. In his recent post with Dr. Joe Sanfelippo Thomas C. Murray shared this important reminder. Particularly with many districts having to make cuts in services and staffing for the next school year, it’s easy for the narrative to turn negative. Superintendents and other leaders have the difficult but important job of establishing a narrative that positions the district as a positive force for students, families, and the community as a whole. Some approaches I’ve seen districts take include: -Regularly celebrating the accomplishments of students, teachers, and other school staff and administrators. -Hosting “Town Hall” style sessions to gather feedback and ideas from the local community. -Having the superintendent engage in regular “face time” with families at school events or community gatherings. -Recruiting student leaders to serve as “ambassadors” for the district by posting on social media and serving as the “student voice” in the community. Have you done anything similar? #edchat #suptchat #edleaders #k12

Spending some time today thinking about how organizations can honor Juneteenth… 1. Be willing to hear, understand, and act on feedback from the most vulnerable communities in your organization. 2. Be transparent and communicate about progress being made and the obstacles you are working to resolve. 3. Search deep inside yourself and your team and ask how you are getting in the way of progress - then do the hard inner work to shift thinking and action. 4. Empathize with the current hardships, the cumulative losses, and the collective trauma that slavery and racism have caused and work towards healing. 5. Eradicate institutional inequities wherever they exist - even when it seems impossible to change. Find a way. 5. Hire, develop, support, train, continually educate, and inspire dedicated and talented people to achieve the best possible outcomes for all people. 6. Experience the feeling of liberation from the abolishment of one of the most inhumane institutions in our history.

What would happen if we began highlighting #good? How do we return to high #morals, being our brothers and sisters keeper? When we xoncern ourselves with justice and love for #Humanity, how will it impact our #leadership? #OrganizationalDevelopment? #Culture? Our #children are watching and they will learn from us? The question is will they learn #good or #evil, #right or #wrong? https://lnkd.in/e7u72X4V

🌟 Nurturing the Nurturers in Juvenile Justice 🌟 In the challenging yet rewarding field of Juvenile Justice, our caretakers are the cornerstone. These dedicated individuals work tirelessly to guide and support our youth, often putting their own needs aside. It's vital to remember that their well-being is directly linked to the effectiveness of their efforts. As leaders, it's our duty to ensure that these caretakers feel supported and valued. Providing them with the necessary resources, training, and emotional support not only enhances their job satisfaction but also amplifies the positive impact they have on our youth. Let's commit to nurturing our caretakers. By investing in their well-being, we create a ripple effect of care and support that reaches far beyond our immediate surroundings. Together, we can foster a more effective, compassionate Juvenile Justice system. #JuvenileJustice #SupportTheSupporters #Leadership #YouthEmpowerment ---
