After my recent repost about the FRP system for applying polyester resins and gelcoats, I've asked about the functioning and benefits of External Mix technology. Fortunately, there's a video that perfectly demonstrates this. As you can see, the components of material are supplied into RS gun through separate lines (1) and (2). Then, compressed air (3) mixes with the catalyst (line 2), and after, the air and catalyst mixture (4) is injected from both sides into the base component spray fan (line 1). What makes the External Mix technology so good? Since the mixing occurs outside the sprayer, the mixed material cannot cure inside the equipment, even due to an operator error. This means you can avoid long and costly repairs, and the equipment does not require an additional solvent line for flushing. In the second part of the video, you can see functioning of the Air-Assist Containment (AAC) technology at work. A tip: gently shaking the workpiece and listening for any internal sounds can help detect impurities. Once thoroughly cleaned, seal the shell in a plastic bag to prevent foreign matter from entering. Our USP when it comes to geosynthetic covers, liners, barriers and geotextiles is our ability to supply in job specific sized pre-welded panels. All our pre-welded panels are fabricated in our workshop, using the most up to date welding and winding technology. Panels are available up to a maximum 32m wide and a maximum 300m long, maximum panel sizes depend on the materials being used and onsite practicalities. All factory welds are peel tested and air tested or air lance tested, depending upon the material being welded. All weld tests are recorded and physical weld samples are held on file. All the materials we use are manufactured under IS0 quality management systems, are CE Certified and are supplied by the worlds leading manufacturers. Although the use of pre-welded panels is not a new concept (we have been promoting it for over 20 years and others for longer) there is still large part of the industry who, for the want of a better expression, look down on this practice. Of course, the supply of pre-welded panels is not suitable for every material nor indeed every application, in these cases traditional practice remains the best option, however, there are many materials and applications that lend themselves to the benefits that pre-welded panels offer, making them a cheaper and more efficient option compared to traditional practice, whilst still using materials that are fit for purpose and come with the normal industry warranties. Flame Control Coatings, LLC 60-60A recently completed NFPA 286 testing over multiple spray foam applicators, including Accufoam from Creative Polymer Solutions and ThermoSeal USA HFO. The NFPA 286 method demonstrates how a material will hold up to an increasingly strong fire for 15 minutes.
