Our story of trial, error, and growth... straight from the heart. We poured our hearts, souls, and dreams into MCBC: Men Countering Breast Cancer, together with Ketto & Kunal Kapoor. It was an initiative that boldly merged fashion and philanthropy. While it didn't unfold as planned, we're proud of our vision and the journey. Lessons learned: 1. Fashion trends often overshadow the deeper message, and 2. Timing is everything, and sometimes it's about evaluating the right moment to make an impact. 3. Lastly, there is success and then there is learning, not failure. Likewise for us, we didn't let the outcome break us! 💪 We're resilient, and we're mindfully taking these lessons to heart. We're proud of what we created, and we're grateful to all our partners for this journey. That’s the sentiment shared by Black beauty entrepreneurs and executives, who report that the beauty industry has fallen short on its promises to better support Black founders in 2020 following the murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer. The biggest pain point: Access to capital has dried up considerably. Earlier this year, Crunchbase reported that funding of Black-owned brands dropped 71 percent to $705 million in 2023 — the first time since 2016 that the figure didn’t exceed $1 billion. One of my 2024 goals is to overcome a major weakness of mine - banging my own drum. It's something I've never been comfortable with it, but if I don't, who will? So, here are some highlights from the last 90 days: 🏆Took home an EMMY®, and earned a second nomination for a commercial campaign I wrote and directed for WSFL-TV in Miami-Ft. Lauderdale 🍺Opened the doors to 'The Brightside' restaurant and bar in Miami. With strong marketing and social media, we've had a first two weeks that exceeded our wildest expectations! ✒ Signed on for Fractional CMO work with the global firm of amazing thought leaders at WorkTech Advisory, based out of Minnesota. Signed on new clients: ✅Artful Orthodontics outside of Orlando ✅Jonathan Smith Golf in Parkland, FL ✅David Bakalar Law Firm in Parkland, FL ✅Bernstein Medical Center for Hair Restoration in Manhattan ✅Schweiger Dermatology Group based in Manhattan This was a LOT of work. Business is hard, especially when you're not a salesperson at heart, but that's what makes this feel like celebrating. I feel so blessed to have these clients, the partners who help me deliver for them, and everyone who's made introductions, referrals and recommendations along the way. 2023 was a fistfight for a lot of people, myself included at times, but you know what you do when doors won't open?
