What if designers first asked, is it kind? Design Day is a celebration of the transformative power of design to make our world more beautiful, functional, and meaningful; But every great power comes with great responsibility; Here’s about this year’s theme by International Council of Design : “For International Design Day, we want to go a step further. It is not enough to simply meet the criteria for not being ‘bad’, we want to see a world where design strives to be kind, generous and caring. What if designers first asked, is it kind? What if the measure of design was how well it cared for people and their relationships rather than how profitable it was? The International Design Day theme for 2024, ‘is it kind?’ is about building kindness into design practice.”

Seeing Through Their Eyes: Why Perspective is Everything in Design Ever wondered what really sets apart a good design from a great one? Spoiler alert: it's all about perspective. It's not just about what we see, but how we see it through our client's eyes. In the wild world of design, our superpower isn't just creativity; it's empathy. Every client walks in with a world of ideas, and it's our job to wear their glasses (figuratively, of course!) and see their vision. The Art of Balancing Views: Think of it as a seesaw. On one side, you've got the client's dreams and ideas. On the other, our creative flair. Finding that sweet spot in the middle? That's where the magic happens. Expect the Unexpected: Design isn't a straight road; it's more like a thrilling rollercoaster. Ups, downs, and loop-de-loops of perspectives and preferences. And guess what? That's what makes this journey so exhilarating! Collaboration is Key: Remember, it's a two-way street. Merging our perspective with the clients isn't just fun; it's fundamental. It's like a creative jam session where everyone's voice adds to the melody. It's not just about making things look pretty; it's about making them feel right. Here's to seeing the world through a kaleidoscope of viewpoints! #DesignDiversity #CreativeEmpathy #PerspectiveIsKey

With sustainability a hot topic across a multitude of industries, and especially relevant for the building industry, it's no longer just an option for construction projects, it’s a necessity. As one of the largest parts of any building, flooring can play a critical role in reaching sustainability goals, but it's maintaining that level between efficiency and aesthetics which is the tough part. Environmental Specialist from Forbo Flooring Systems, Mark Bauer explains how linoleum can help you meet your functionality goals, whilst still allowing specifiers freedom of design >> https://lnkd.in/eDVeRxzf #sustainability #sustainablebuilding #sustainabledesign #constructionindustry

Designer & Creative Director som med hjälp av holistisk designmetodik skapar hållbara och varumärkesbyggande rum för alla sinnen. Grundare av designstudion Entière och inspiratör med "10 Principles of Holistic Design".
The rich layers of time are deeply connected to design and creativity. The end of an old and the beginning of a new year marks a time to reflect for most of us. Strategic overviews of a year that’s passed, and visions for the next. But also simply some time off, leaving room for more spontaneous thoughts emerging. So it’s suitable that the principle we look at in this issue revolves around the concept of time, and how being mindful of it will unlock layers of conscious creation, quality, collaboration, beauty and joy! In this issue of the Holistic Design Journal from ENTIÈRE – The holistic design studio. we explore the relationship between time and design. It’s time for Principle No.6 “Relate to time” Read here and sign up for the Journal in comments or DM with ”time” https://lnkd.in/dgqqDSXD
