Organizational Hubris. What dereliction of responsibility for the lives of the men and women in Naval Aviation is directed at the senior US Navy leaders, programs managers and test pilots who have consistently failed to direct and support Auto GCAS being implemented into the Rhino and Growler fleets? Automatic Ground Collision Avoidance Systems have been developed, tested, fielded and saved lives since 2013. 13 F-16 and 14 F-16 pilots saved, F-22 and F-35 aircraft saved. The United States Marine Corps, funded by Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), has tested and is fielding Auto GCAS for the legacy Hornet fleet. How is it possible after the 2022 Rhino G-LOC fatality that Auto GCAS was not fast-tracked into the fleet? Boeing Defense, Space & Security developed its version of the capability many years ago and demo’d it to Navy leaders and test pilots. Why do aircraft carriers sometimes carry a large number of cars? Aircraft carriers occasionally transport cars, especially when the ship is changing homeports. This happens because many sailors own personal vehicles, and when they are reassigned to a different base, moving these vehicles can be logistically challenging and costly. Rather than shipping the vehicles separately, which would require additional resources and expenses, the Navy may utilize the ample space available on the aircraft carrier, particularly when it is not carrying its full complement of aircraft. This allows the sailors to have their vehicles transported at no extra cost, while the Navy avoids the need for contracting out the transportation. This practice is especially convenient during relatively short relocations along the coast.

USS Gerald R. Ford: The World’s Most Expensive Warship Faces Early Challenges No warship ever built is as expensive as the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) – the lead vessel of a new class of nuclear-powered supercarriers. As the largest warship ever constructed in terms of displacement, CVN-78 is an impressive vessel that will likely serve as in a power projection role throughout the world for decades to come. Its total price tag came in at about $13.3 billion, nearly 30 percent higher than initial estimates. It suffered from numerous delays and the "kinks" are still being worked out in some of its key systems In fact, because she is loaded with so many new and innovative technologies, there remained issues with numerous systems that haven't exactly worked as planned. These included the ship's toilets, which regularly clogged, to the ordnance elevators that didn't function properly; while numerous systems have had serious teething issues that have needed to be resolved.

“The Navy has explored two options since the mid-1990s. The first uses a conventional approach reminiscent of time-tested underway replenishment at-sea methods: the Transportable Re-Arming Mechanism. The second, more complex approach uses a crane that compensates for wave movements: Large Vessel Interface Lift On/Lift Off.” I have a proposal for a 3rd method. People familiar with handguns, especially revolvers are familar with “quick loaders”. Quick Loaders are devices that are preloaded with rounds for the revolvers held securely in position so that they can be easily position behind the opened, empty revolver section and released straight into the revolver section. The US Navy Unrep QuickLoader will have a design designed for each ship and each missle launcher in the ship. The Unrep ship will have enough of these Quickloaders to allow them to fill them with missiles that they are carrying. Then, in the instance of vertical launch tubes for example, will be built to have places on the deck of the ship so that when a QuickLoader full of missle reloads is craned over and positioned correctly it locks into position. The doors on the VLS are opened one at a time and each missle is automatcailly loaded. Then the doors are shut, the Quicloader is removed.
