For Women’s History Month, we’re recognizing the successes and achievements of BARDA employees. Meet Connie Song, Lead Contract Specialist, Division of Contract Management and Acquisitions. One of Connie’s greatest career achievements to date is having the opportunity to support the BARDA mission and working with such a talented and dedicated group. She added, “specifically providing contracting support to the Division of Research, Innovation and Ventures (DRIVe) in launching new and novel program initiatives.” Connie’s advice to young women who are just starting their professional careers is: “stay true to yourself and pursue your passions. I am increasingly passionate about advocating for Entrepreneur Mental Health. To reignite valuable conversations and learnings, I am reposting a fun video montage from the inspiring 2023 QED Global Summit. This event featured two days of presentations and discussions with some of the best minds in fintech. QED Investors demonstrated its commitment to prioritizing the well-being of CEOs and their teams by inviting me to lead a session on mental health education and to facilitate genuine discussions about the stressors they face.  The summit culminated in a powerful message: "We want you to feel supported by us and to create cultures where mental health conversations are welcomed." My vision is for more conferences to create space for authenticity, enabling individuals to share struggles, resources, and uplift one another.  As an Executive Coach with a background in clinical therapy, I see the urgent need to shift the paradigm so that mental health is no longer stigmatized or concealed. It should be seen as a shared responsibility, rather than an issue to be tackled alone. There is vast potential in expanding the support network available to founders, both from VC partners and from within their own community.  I will continue to advocate for this cause and guide my clients to recognize the link between performance, productivity, self-awareness, and well-being. As I collaborate with exceptional founders from around the world, I am more committed than ever to expanding the avenues of support for this community of innovative leaders. Last week I was recognized for reaching a certain milestone. I've never really been one for celebrations (working on it 🎉). At the time, I passed on a simple repost - seemed too self-congratulatory. As I reflected over the past week, a number of thoughts came to mind, some that I thought worth sharing. 💭 ✅ Milestones are markers. They help us be better rememberers (we tend to be pretty good at forgetting). Markers keep us focused on the important ➡ Joshua 4. ✅ Each project I've completed was an opportunity to journey alongside an organization that was laboring in the 'already but not yet' - carrying out a mission that impacts the world now, with a focus on eternal implications. I've been honored and humbled with each of these partnerships. ✅ Our work at Vanderbloemen places a high value on face-to-face interactions, as do I. So 100 engagements resulted in a lot of miles 🛫 and nights away from home 🛌. I miss a lot of things, but it keeps me focused on the intentionality I need to bring as a husband and father when I am home. A work in progress for sure - "intentional" is my word for 2024 - want to join me ⁉ ✅ I have a rockstar wife🤘(see point above). Deeply invest in your family as you journey the adventure of living life together and execute the mission statement you're focused on in your home. Love the work you do, but your family focus is far more important than what you do for remuneration. ✅ This is a marker, not a finish line. The journey continues.   Carry on my friends 💪
