Best practice method is always best for portacan inventory. 20 workers to 1 can is bonkers. As a side note, on water jugs: OSHA standard 1926 does not explicitly state that water jugs must be sealed, but it does have specific requirements for potable water in construction. According to OSHA 1926.51(a)(2), "Containers used to distribute drinking water shall be equipped with a tap." This implies that water containers should be designed to prevent contamination, typically achieved by having a proper seal or cover when not in use, and a tap to dispense the water hygienically. Additionally, the water must be potable and meet health standards. Ensuring that water jugs are sealed (dated too) when not in use helps maintain the cleanliness and safety of the drinking water, aligning with OSHA's overall emphasis on providing safe drinking water on construction sites.

And this isn't just for people like me who may or may not have dropped a very large tree on an empty outhouse while building a cabin in the mountains. Which may or may not have been very un sanitary.
