🔥Recruiting is 100% the hardest job I've ever had. Here's why: 1) Hiring managers do not always know what they want. 2) Industries can be very niche. 3) Getting people to trust me is the hardest part. ➡️ So I find a lot that hiring managers think they know what they want, but once you give that to them, they do not actually want it. *So you have to be ready to go around what they want and provide what they NEED. ➡️ Every industry has its own nuances and finding people who understand the nuances can be impossible. *i.e. I need a structural engineer BUT... with a specialty in a specific material, for 10 years, with 10 years of management experience as well. ➡️ I can reach out to 100 people but only a fraction of them will respond, even if they are open to work. *Why? Because they think I'm a scammer or can't be trusted. ⭐So I have to make them know I'm a real person who really cares about putting the right person in the right role. If I just throw people at roles then the turnover will be terrible. That is not only horrible for them but horrible for me. My ability to find people who fit a role is my entire reputation. 📌I could keep going. There are so many tricks to recruiting. Mainly, you just have to keep going. “Why don’t recruiters just send me the whole job description?!” Controversial topic - here’s my take There are typically 3 reasons 1.) Character counts - we’re limited in InMails and connection messages. It’s very difficult to include an entire job description in one message 2.) You fit more than 2 positions I’m supporting. If I sent you a book of an email with 2-6 descriptions it would be atrocious 3.) I know your project focus, licensure, or years of experience align well with my clients expansion plans overall. Perfect on paper and in person.. but not perfect for the job. We recently hired a Senior Project Manager for an architectural millwork firm outside of Denver. He presented exceptionally, passed our extensive process, and had (multiple) incredible on-site conversations with ownership - even discussing an equity track in the near future. Yet, within two weeks of his start, he put in his notice as he was offered a different position he "couldn't pass up". This was a stark reminder that no matter how great a recruiter or hiring manager you are, we are still working with human beings. All parties involved were stunned.. except the candidate of course. We pride ourselves on a low refill rate - but sometimes we are reminded - people are people. This industry will never be black and white. It’s as much an art as it is a science. Sometimes, things happens. Always be wary of anyone promising 100% certainty in hiring. Embrace the human element and understand that unpredictability is part of the game. An effective search partner knows how to account for most variables - but it will never be absolute. This candidate will be responsible for maintaining constant contact with customers, estimators, contractors, and administrative staff. The manager will ensure the work done meets the expected quality and adheres to the agreed-upon contract and scope. The manager will handle all phases of the project and adhere to the company’s standards. Reconstruction Project Manager Responsibilities: · Develop and manage project plans, including budget, schedule, and quality control measures. · Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, architects, engineers, and contractors to develop project requirements, scope, and goals. · Ability to write and understand estimates and manage mitigation projects · Conduct site visits to assess project progress, quality, and safety. · Identify and manage project risks, including changes to scope, schedule, and budget. · Manage project budgets, including tracking expenses, forecasting costs, and making budget adjustments as necessary. · Ensure that all work complies with applicable regulations, codes, and standards. · Coordinate with project teams to ensure that work is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. · Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to clients, stakeholders, and project teams. · Communicate with subcontractors to ensure that all parties are informed of the project status and any changes to the project plan. · Ensure that all project activities are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures. · Manage project close-out activities, including final inspections, punch lists, and warranty work. · Foster positive relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project teams. · Maintain an accurate logging of all relevant communication pertaining to each job file and ensure compliance with accounting and administrative teams. · Work with the Estimator to ensure scope items are not overlooked. · Responsible for tracking costs and creating change orders for added work from customer needs/wants. · Perform other tasks as assigned.
