Every time I see Gallup's charts on employee engagement, I am struck by a mixture of astonishment, confusion, and deep concern. What lies behind these troubling statistics? Who is delving into the root causes? How do so many people find the motivation to get up each morning, despite their disengagement? What drives them to mentally disengage? Most importantly, is this the kind of world we are creating for future generations?
