Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping, and neither are we. This year, I’m participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, a cause close to my heart. The resilience and courage of those affected by this devastating disease inspire me every day to take action. By walking, I’m not just raising funds; I’m helping to support the critical work of the Alzheimer’s Association. They provide 24/7 care and support for families facing Alzheimer’s and other dementias, and they’re at the forefront of research to find a cure. But I can’t do this alone. I need your support to make a real impact. Here’s how you can help: Donate: Your contributions fund essential care, support, and research efforts. Register: Join me as a participant and start your own fundraising efforts. Share: Spread the word about this important cause and encourage others to get involved. Together, we can bring hope to millions and work towards a future free from Alzheimer’s. Please consider supporting my walk by making a donation or joining me in this cause. Your support means the world to those impacted by Alzheimer’s. Let’s make a difference together. It's not just grandma and grampa we need to save on National Donation Day. It's all of us! June 20th, The Longest Day, is the day with the most light and the day we fight! I shine a light on the fight to end Alzheimer’s for my wife, Beth Anderson, who I lost to this terrible disease at the age of 50, and those who are yet to be diagnosed. Please partner with me on The Longest Day, June 20th; I’ll be running nine miles around Bachman Lake in honor of my wife, the six million Americans currently living with Alzheimer’s, and the eleven million people who provide unpaid care to Alzheimer's patients to raise vital research funds and awareness. I'm asking for your support by donating to my fundraiser at: https://lnkd.in/dExbwWRk. Last year, we had 100 people donate $50 to reach $5,000. This year, my goal is to get 120 people to contribute $50, for a total of $6,000. Here is our story: https://lnkd.in/gqEkRaPp Alzheimer’s Facts: 1. 55 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer’s. 2. 1 in 3 seniors dies due to Alzheimer’s or another dementia. 3. 1 in 9 people aged 65 and older has Alzheimer’s. 4. Alzheimer’s kills more people than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. 5. Two thirds of Americans with Alzheimer’s are women. 6. Eighty-three percent of the help provided to older adults in the U.S. comes from family members, friends, or other unpaid caregivers. 7. In 2023, Alzheimer’s and other dementias will cost the nation $345 billion, and by 2050 the cost is estimated to be $1 trillion. #ENDALZ

Proven strategic CFO with deep experience helping small to mid-market companies grow and optimize long-term value.
Friends and Colleagues , I hope that this finds you well and enjoying your summer! As I shared here in the last few weeks, I was diagnosed in early 2023 with early onset Alzheimer’s disease. I’m fighting like hell to stave off this disease! The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is on September 28. I am fundraising with the Alzheimer’s Association to find a cure. Fact: In the US there are approximately 7 million people living with Alzheimer’s and by 2030 it is projected to be 8.5 million. I need your help meeting my fundraising goal of $7500. Please consider a donation toward a cure. All donations will be helpful and greatly appreciated! Below is a link to my Alz walk team site to donate and/or join our team for the walk. Also below are some facts and reasons to donate. https://lnkd.in/ebuhDPva Do you know someone who is living or lived with Alzheimer’s. Perhaps a beloved family member-a parent or grandparent, or a friend, neighbor or colleague? There is no proven way to prevent Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s begins 20 or more years before memory lost. There is currently no cure. Ultimately, Alzheimer’s disease is fatal. Lifespan depends on age of diagnosis, other health conditions, lifestyle and treatments. People age 65 and older survive an average of four to eight years after a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s dementia, yet some live as long as 20 years.

Still time to donate and help me reach my goal! 1. **Prevalence**: Alzheimer's is the most common cause of dementia, accounting for 60-80% of dementia cases. It's estimated that over 6 million people in the United States are living with Alzheimer's. 2. **Progressive Nature**: Alzheimer's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that leads to memory loss, cognitive decline, and behavioral changes. Symptoms gradually worsen over time, often starting with mild memory problems and advancing to severe impairment. 3. **Risk Factors**: Age is the greatest risk factor for Alzheimer's, with most people diagnosed being 65 or older. Other risk factors include genetics, family history, and certain health conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity. 4. **Symptoms**: Early symptoms include difficulty remembering recent events, confusion about time or place, trouble understanding visual images, and problems with speaking or writing. As the disease progresses, individuals may experience severe memory loss, difficulty performing daily tasks, and changes in mood and behavior. 5. **Treatment and Management**: While there is currently no cure for Alzheimer's, treatments are available to help manage symptoms. Medications can temporarily improve or slow the progression of symptoms. Non-drug approaches, such as cognitive therapy, lifestyle changes, and support from caregivers, are also important in managing the disease.
🧡 A Purposeful Stride: Journeying Through Alzheimer's with Donna 🧡 Did it ever cross your mind that Alzheimer's could knock on your family's door? June brings this shadowy specter into the glaring daylight for Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness. Think of it: A beloved family member's history slowly evaporating, like morning dew under a relentless sun. That's precisely the odyssey my mother-in-law, Donna, is trekking, with us in tow. How do we react? We lace up our shoes of patience and press on, our hands clasped in unyielding support. This path is dotted with throes of grief, yet enriched by the purest love - a bitter-and-sweet reality binding us tighter than ever before. If there's one thing this journey has imprinted on our hearts, it's this: Cherish every moment. And dream of a world untainted by Alzheimer's. For Donna, I'm putting my best foot forward to raise funds for Alzheimer's research. We're a single donation away from a brighter tomorrow, a world where no family is marked by this ordeal. Will you join me? Every stride counts. 🚶♂️❤️ https://lnkd.in/eFhTYE-M

Employee Benefits | Innovative Professional with an eye for value creation to companies with compelling benefits strategies
Hello LinkedIn Connections, I do not post much on LinkedIn. I am more of a reader than a contributor. So posting is a little out of my comfort zone. It is with a heavy heart that I share the devastating news that my mother has been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, at the young age of 61. ALS is a progressive and fatal neurological disorder that affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement such as walking, swallowing and breathing. You might have heard of ALS in light of the 2014 #IceBucketChallenge, which has resulted in several life prolonging medications for ALS patients. Since her diagnosis, she has moved in with me so that I can be her caretaker alongside the professionals. This is a very physically and emotionally demanding role that I am delighted to do - being her caretaker is fulfilling God's work. I truly stand by that. I bring this up because the ALS Association hosts annual walks in different cities around the United States to raise money for ALS research and resources as well as spread awareness of this awful disease. In honor of my mothers everyday battle, I created a team, named Tammy's Tenacity, for the Fort Worth ALS Walk to Defeat ALS event happening on October 19th, 2024. As team captain, it is my role to cultivate a team and fundraise for further ALS research and resources. So, I am taking a leap of faith to ask my connections and/or their organizations to humbly donate to my team, Tammy's Tenacity. Your donation, big or small, greatly improves the life of ALS patients and their caretakers. Let's find a CURE! 🙏 To make a donation to my team, use the link below and search the team name "Tammy's Tenacity". Select a team member (you can select me, Sarah Salas) to make a one-time donation to. Each donation will receive a LinkedIn accreditation post from me, personally. 😊 #ALS #LouGehrigsDisease #AmyotrophicLateralSclerosis #ALSawareness #FindACure #ALScaretaker #Fundraising #Donations https://lnkd.in/g9s49CDc

When you donate to DS research, you’re helping advance scientific knowledge that can also benefit the broader community. For example, Alzheimer’s disease is a medical condition affecting 40-80% of people with DS who live to be in their 50s and 60s. Knowing Alzheimer’s disease progresses faster in those with DS vs. those who don’t have DS, it’s important to understand the genetic component further. By doing so, the hope is to uncover scientific discoveries that one day slow or cure the progression of Alzheimer’s. Imagine what this means not only for those with DS but for millions of others who will be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in the future. Step up and become our partner for change! With a monthly gift of $21 or more, you’ll help us rewrite the future for people with DS and their families. Today's the day! Our Research Appeal looks to discover better treatments for those living with the disease and support earlier diagnosis, as well as conducting critical social and econometric research that helps to better advocate for improved care. Donate today and you are helping CCA to fund fellowships and research programs to help those living with IBD now and in the future. With your help researchers can piece together a roadmap to guide people affected by IBD on their healthcare journey. Your donation will fund research into key priorities in prevention and management of Crohn’s and colitis. https://lnkd.in/gfJJFZ7d

When companies engage authentically with non-profit organizations it can be a real win-win. What One Lambda | A Thermo Fisher Scientific Brand and Ava Kaufman of Ava's Heart have in common are set of important values: caring for for patients and an equitable transplant system. This campaign lets OneLamda share their values. In this video we get insight not into WHAT they do, but WHY they do it. Sharing WHY helps a company build a relationship with their audience. Having a deep connection to a non-profit can also give a company access to quality content, the key to all good communication, while giving the non-profit much needed attention and funding.
Did you know that to receive a life-saving transplant, a patient must prove they have a place to stay near the transplant hospital, often for months at a time? Many patients, like Marcus Roberts, end up having to travel hundreds of miles to their nearest transplant center, making this requirement an incredible – and sometimes insurmountable – financial burden. As an extension of our commitment to providing innovative transplant diagnostics that enable our customers to improve patient lives, we’re proud to support Ava's Heart, a non-profit charitable organization that provides critically needed pre- and post-transplant housing assistance to patients who are unable to access or afford it. Without help from Ava’s Heart, Marcus and many others like him might not have been able to receive their second chance at life. Thousands of people like Marcus and Ava are counting on you. Visit thermofisher.com/marcus to learn more about how you can help give the gift of life.
