Walking through life with our armor on...all of us do from such an early age. Imagine society...our neighborhoods, schools, public spaces, libraries, gardens, creeks and roadways... All designed with the intention of make life more peaceful, vibrations of inspiration allowing us all to live a life without the armor...without the fear songs and the beating and clanking that comes along. Designing again for solutions and not solely for market competition? Imagine a World...where we design solutions as community coalitions...initiated and executed together...not asking for permission from the top down systems. Can we drop the rules of competition and start connecting our bridges together? I believe we can. In my second week of the Cabin co-hort, the mentors are inspiring and the fellow stewards also move with faith that we can. <3 Check out https://cabin.city To building new communities, one neighborhood at a time. <3

It’s stress awareness month and as part of that there are things we can all do to aid our own wellbeing. One of the 5 ways to wellbeing is to give. There’s lots of research about the positive effects of taking part in social and community life with some studies showing that people who help others are more likely to rate themselves as happy. Below is a great opportunity with a local charity close to my heart Motiv8 to do just that, whilst improving our community 😊I’m looking forward to taking part! So what ways do you give back? Is there anything you can do today to be kind and helpful to others, however big or small? #wellbeing #stressawarenessmonth
Fancy a different kind of team-bonding that doesn’t involve drinking or an escape room AND helps the environment? 🌊 Led by Motiv8 Youth Advisor Mackenzie Bird, join us and our partners from across the city for a beach clean ahead of the D-Day 80 celebration. This event will be led by young people from across our community, endorsed by the Portsmouth & Southsea Beach Watch, our team of young people, staff, and volunteers. We’l make our way from the Hot walls in Old Portsmouth and Eastney Beach, finishing at the D-Day Museum, helping to prepare the city for this national event of remembrance and celebration. We are inviting you and your colleagues to join us as volunteers, if you are able, both to help clean and help the young people we all support demonstrate pride in their home. Any direct or financial support around equipment, refreshments, or event logistics is also most welcome! 🗓️ Saturday 1st June, 10am at Hot Walls, Old Portsmouth. Partners already confirmed are Sustrans, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, Police Cadets, Air Cadets, Portsmouth Mediation Service, The Mary Rose Museum, Portsmouth, The D-Day Story Museum, PYC, URBOND, Film Crew 4u CIC, and Habibur Rahman / The News, Portsmouth. There are more than a few reasons why life here in Los Angeles is grand but one of them is the inspiration I get from the small but mighty non-profits that continue to make our city better. One is Public Matters, founded by Mike Blockstein and Reanne Estrada. If you want a break from the news cycle, have a look at this article titled "Conspiratorial Joy Lives Here."

Veteran Housing Corp says that IF YOU ARE NOT PART OF A PERMANENT AND LASTING SOLUTION TO THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING CRISIS AND HOMELESSNESS, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM! THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IS BROKEN AND NOT WORKING FOR AMERICAN TAXPAYERS Veteran Housing Corp would ask every TAXPAYER to demand and get answers from their elected and appointed government officials the below questions as they relate to any affordable, workforce, or supportive housing project in your community! 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, or other government benefits or incentives did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? Is the affordability period permanent and in perpetuity? 3. What guarantees exist have your local, state, and federal government officials obtained in writing that rents will not go up or that tenants will not be displaced or evicted after the "affordability period expires? Every local, state, and federal housing authority and affordable or workforce housing stakeholder should adopt the State of Vermont's "permanent affordability" policy as a model for all future government funded or subsidized housing projects or developments, no exceptions! https://lnkd.in/eFEUC8c8 Additionally, local, state and federal housing agencies should look to the Helsinki, FINLAND MODEL of ending homelessness by providing affordable housing for all 'It’s a miracle': Helsinki's radical solution to homelessness https://lnkd.in/er9HZSQU Even the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development AGREES THAT adopting FINLAND'S MODEL OF ERADICATING HOMELESSNESS may be of great value to resolving the affordable housing and homelessness crises in America https://lnkd.in/gkSZWYRU
